Wanted to try making a character in Google Drawings instead of LibreOffice, just to see how far I could stretch my capabilities. Drawings doesn't have nearly as many options as Libre, and that led to a lot of improvising, such as the choker since I couldn't put the right kind of shadow on the neck to accentuate the jaw line. The inability to merge shapes or distort existing ones beyond XY proportions meant arms behind the back. It's a pose I end up using a lot of the times I draw female characters. When I was younger, it was because hands and fingers always looked like packs of hot dogs, plus I made a lot of BDSM-themed stuff. Now, while making hands in Google was a challenge that didn't quite pan out, I like the pose now for its ambiguity. Putting your hands behind your back can be seen as submissive, authoritarian, playful, dignified, coy, and even deceptive. Rather win-win, really. One of my favorite commissions was of Stella the Heretic holding her staff behind her back. It lets her seem harmless enough, but not totally trustworthy.
