Not exactly a tutorial as I didn't even bother to list the keyboard shortcuts, but I wanted to focus on the results as some users may be a little confused about how SketchUp handles maintaining its Non-Photorealistic Render aesthetic.

An important note about hiding lines is you have to be careful when you click unhide, because you may end up having to redo some of your work. Put simply, when you've hidden your lines and are satisfied, place the object in a group. This way, you can only unhide the lines if you go in to edit the group.

Notice also when you smooth a line, the object still has an outline. These settings can be tweaked in the style selector, but this is how the two tools work in the default settings.
