Description
lawl, braaaaaaaains ... Sorry, couldn't help myself. This is Cutwire. The guy who used to poke around in Axis' already screwy head to find out what made him tick.
Now I know I've said here and there that Axis went to the Academy when he was younger. While this is true, he was first a student and then later turned into a specimen when he caught Cutwire's eye.
Cutwire was intrigued how a glitched cybertronian had actually succeeded in getting into the school and was actually doing well in his studies. (Mind you, Axis did this to prove to his Creators that he could be just as good at stuff as Skidlock, but Skidlock was that kid who did it effortlessly. Axis had to WORK at it.) Cutwire then approached Axis under the pretense of taking him in as an advanced student. Axis bought it--after all, what better way to prove to Mommy and Daddy HE was handpicked by one of the most respected professors at the Academy--and then his status as a student was changed to Specimen.
Axis, along with others with 'special' cases, were taken into Cutwire's care, but were spread out on a slab for daily study of their mental disorder. Cutwire, of course, felt no guilt over this, as he--and most other Cybertronians--saw this terminal glitch as a blight. Those born with it were doomed to an almost vegetable-like state eventually, so why not study it in its stages for science and a possible cure?
The only ones aware these examinations were going on were some of the professors and the Creators of the patients--they kind of treated it like donating clothes to a shelter for someone else to use.
Yes, Axis' parents gave Cutwire permission to slice his head open.
Axis was a favorite of Cutwire's mostly due to the fact that Axis would resist most reprogrammings and memory wipes after each session. It wasn't anything Cutwire could fix, of course, but it amused him to see one of his specimens fight so hard. It wasn't until Terra entered Axis' life and became a pillar of support that Axis was later able to fight the reprogrammings.
Cutwire is also the reason Axis has such an extensive knowledge of Cybertronian anatomy and physiology. Not that he LEARNED anything while under the knife, but because before Axis finally 'dropped out' of the Academy, he brutally tortured Cutwire and ripped everything he knew out of his head before killing him. Oddly enough, this helped to stable his glitch somewhat. This also became a cornerstone in Axis' cruelty. Before he kept to simple pranks and annoying habits, but he found he enjoyed torturing people A LOT more.
Food for thought: Not only does Axis have a rather skewed idea of what's fun as well as a complex of trying to be better than his brother, throw this alongside the years of a superiority complex of having others look down at him. Got it? Okay, good. Now he's just figured out he ENJOYS causing pain, catching people off guard ('Cuz Cutwire sure as hell never thought Axis was truly dangerous). Couple that with the smarts of a scientist/medic.
See where I'm goin' with this?
Oh and this is BEFORE he went completely crackers after Terra's disappearance.

I doubt it would have made much of a difference if he had been less or more sadistic. Axis doesn't like people in his head. Period. Axis was a troubled kinda guy BEFORE Cutwire started poking around. The end would have likely been just as violent, if not a little more so.

Ahh, well that's fair enough, I suppose. Besides, what's Axis without all the carnage and destruction? I guess Cutwire really had it coming

lol, just another crazy OC running around.
He did--though I think deep down he really believed he was doing good by trying to figure out the glitch. He did enjoy poking around in heads too much though.....

Well, I won't say he didn't NOT deserve what Axis did to him, but Axis was already unstable enough without being prodded...
