Description
After many years I finally managed to get some decent, up close and personal shots of wild rabbits in The New Forest after stumbling across a family. Laying on a muddy bank to get eye level, this chappie was most accomodating.Related content

Hi, could I use this image as a reference for a colored pencil drawing? The finished result would be kept as a personal piece or given as a gift, but nothing would be for commercial use. Let me know please!! Thanks!!

yup wild. Close I got to any of them was about 6ft. I was laid on a bank from a ditch so was eye level.

Cheers dude. I keep the saturation / contrast levels down intentionally. I prefer the softer pastel feel. This was shot in low light / shade as well which makes it look a bit flat. I might boost it now you've mentioned it.

This is a great shot; seems well worth the years of frustration.
And it's heartening to see I'm not the only one having difficulty with the local rabbit population...although I have one who, through the use of food bribes, seems to be beginning to warm up to me.

ooh baiting tut tut. Unethical!
They are a pain in the backside. The main bit of advice I Can give is creep up slowly on them, staying down wind - and if they bolt to a near by burrow just lay low and wait until they return. Don't make any sudden movement
Please feel free to follow me on my facebook page

Well...the bait was intended for the birds, but I now have rabbits, chipmunk, racoons and deer visiting periodically.Β
And the rabbit lets me get pretty close, actually...about 4 or 5 feet before he hops a bit further away - doesn't bolt, just likes to keep a certain distance.
I am already following your FB page. You do some amazing work.

Ah fair enough on the bird food issue. Wish I had chipmunks and racoons to capture here!!!
And 4-5 ft is insane! Hit the deck, get eye level and run some pics off
thanks for following - I have no idea who follows my page from fb so I'm in the habbit of dropping it in ever response to a like or comment lol.

I took your advice...hoping to get some posted this weekend. I started a new consulting engagement (my real job), so the last two weeks have been pretty hectic.Β
I liked your FB page...annd I do the same thing - ask folks to visit. In fact I paste the following in responses when I'm thanking folks for faving something here on DA. I post the thumbnail of the image they liked at the end of the little blurb...that way other visitors to their site can see it. Β
Thank you for adding my image (below) to your folders. I am truly honored that you found my work worthy of note.
If you ever have a few minutes and you'd like to see more of my work (some of which is not in my DA galleries), I invite you to visit my website ( www.fawlsphoto.com ) or my Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/fawlsphoto ). And if you like what you see there, I always appreciate βLikesβ. If not, I fully understand.
Either way, thanks for the βfavβ and I hope you have a good rest of the week.
