Description
Thayen is from one of the older and higher ranked families of his birth city and was identified early on as having a natural talent for magic. During his years of study at the academy, he earned the begrudged respect and fear of his peers and the animosity of his instructors. It was his refusal to commit to a single school of study, as he was exceeding many of his instructors in not only the arcane studies but necromancy, geomancy and psionics, that earned him the ire of the chief magistrate of the academy. It is said in whispered rumors that still circulate amongst the students of the academy that on the day that Thayen went missing from the academy, the chief magistrate had gone to the young drow's quarters to summon him to a tribunal where the punishment for his disobedience would be met out. To this day they've only found enough of the chief magistrate, in the ruins of the wing where Thayen's quarters had been, to positively identify his remains.

Thayen refuses to acknowledge his surname, calling it simply another way that "those damnable creatures suckling at Lloth's tit" could own him. After his flight from the academy, Thayen has become one of the most formidable mages to ever haunt the shadow choked depths of the Underdark - his hunger for more knowledge and power eclipsed only (and only slightly) by his adoration of his two companions. One day, once he's amassed enough power and dark knowledge, he hopes to return to his city of birth to eliminate his remaining enemies at the academy and eradicate every female of his former house.
