Description 5 layer stencil on deck. Lots of overspray... I'm having some trouble getting my paper stencils to stick down as well as I want them to.

Try wax paper, and ironing it on before you spray. Works every time (:

i'm still sold on transparencies for multiple uses and tyvek priority mail envelopes for one shots. someone recommended using 190lb cardstock instead of film, so i'm trying it. this is the second thing i tried.

i was using "repositionable" sprayglue with the (190lb) paper stencils, and that glue isn't strong enough when the underlying surface isn't flat. i'm going back to super 77 when i do the other two decks (as soon as i get a couple more decks to paint.)

does ironing work when there's paint underneath? i don't even iron my clothes, i seriously doubt i could iron a stencil down to painted surface without making a huge mess out of everything.

As long as the paint is dry, it should work just fine. Never had a problem with it before myself, but I would do a small test run on a plank of wood first to be sure. (:

btw, i forgot to mention that freezer paper can go straight into the printer, you should use that instead of wax paper, you could use your same process, and if you don't print it's still easier to draw on than wax paper (wow.)

anyway, i use freezer paper to make shirts, but with a heat gun, not an iron. it's like $6 for over9000 feet of it at safeway.
