Description
Red, black, gray and white ; these colors have captured my attention for a very long time now.But still, red has always been my most favorite, in fact more of an addictive color .. which is why its screaming in all its glory in this brand new piece; bringing out black and the darkness of the character exactly the way I wanted it.
Almost a month of devotion.
Done with photoshop CS5, mouse.
The pen tool was used for blocking all the shapes, adjustment layers for final color treatment, my own custom smudge brush for polishing.
The auto tone feature really helped in pumping the specularity, plus a slight tonal shift.
- Rahul, Santosh & Vivek : many thanks for your creative input!
cheers people!
thanks for viewing!

There's only one thing about this that I don't really understand. Why on earth didn't it get a DD?

Actually i think i could've pushed it some more. Maybe adding a funny element or something weird.
All in all ... i'mΒ really happy you saw it's potential.Β
Thank you so much

Man, this is incredible artwork. I really like the blue and white shades on the shine, it really gives the robotic, platinum look a big pop. The pose (and I guess also the sword sheath, lol) give it a malicious look that makes me think of the movie Ex Machina. Also the background, even though altogether plain, fits very well for the theme of the picture. Amazing job homie.

Hey Malcolm! thank you so much bro \m/Β
hahaa actually many of my friends keep telling me to add something in the background .... but maybe that can be reserved for a piece where a story is being told or maybe nothing at all ... again .. depends on the artwork ...
else there'll be an attention shift .... causing the main subject to lose focus ...
There's a new piece in the works, in fact... i created a wip thread :
forums.cgsociety.org/showthreaβ¦
Can't wait to finish this ... but need to go slow ... lots to do

Personally, I don't think it needs anything going on in the background. The AI is interesting enough, like you said, it's the main focus... The red background just sort of adds to the malicious tone of the picture. You know it's about to do something evil...
And take your time with any new work. It's amazing, from what I can tell, and it should not be rushed.
I plan to give a look to your gallery when I have more time. In the meantime, keep up the great work!

thank you so much!
i've seen your work too! really love the styling and color paletteΒ
regarding the arm, yup you are right, it is quite small, the angle itself in reference image ( the model ) was posed that way ..Β
but i think what really makes her arm small was because i exaggerated the hips a little .. making it quite wide compared to the model.
stay tuned for my next piece!
cheers dude!
looking forward to more creative wonders from you! \m/

Hey Neville, thanks, youΒ΄re welcome!
I found that other piece in your gallery from the "Exotique" cover, IΒ΄m still amazed that you work with a mouse.
The problem with reference images is always that you never know hwich lens, perspective angle the photographer used and which original proportions the models may have. IΒ΄ve made it a habit to question thge images a lot. The thing I see with the arm might not be as an big issue as it sounds, it might just be the joint design on the elbow that makes the arm and joint appear even shorter than it used to be. Sure the hipsize adds a bit of perspective in that probably wasnΒ΄t there in the first place.
IΒ΄m following you here and look forward, cheers!

actually to be very honest ... sometimes i neglect my work .. mainly because of office hours .. laziness .. then i head over to cghub.com for some good brainwash
get juiced up with all kinds of ideas .. then i begin new work ...
it really helps .. seeing so many amazing artists churn mindblowing art .. it's fascinating ...Β

I wish that I could be so... determined to finish work. I don't have your eye for detail at all.Β
Did you study art or are you just naturally gifted?

bless you
my education is really quite bad .. my head was never into books .. i was below average student ..
art was all that mattered to me .. but at that time i wasn't totally up to the mark, still had ( have ) a long way to go ... i never attended any art university,
i'm a 10th grade fail .. didn't do college .. no art background, i think i owe it to mama, she always had that thing for drawing .. guess i picked it up from her
whenever i saw an amazing piece of art, it added more fuel to fire ..Β
there's so much out there laura, to explore, experience .. art is the only way to express yourself in a different way ..Β
you, me, artists world over will most certainly have that need to show others what we imagine everyday ...Β

Another beauty, Nevs. I have always admired your attention to details that make a piece come to life. Especially in this one where the fine seams and bolt depressions not only accentuate the bold design but make her truly believable. Congrats!
