Description Time goes by, time brings changes, you change, too.

Nothing comes that you can't handle, so on you go.

The arrival of the jet-power airliner such as the de Haviland DH.106 'Comet', Douglas DC-8 and the Boeing 707 heralded a new era of international travel. Trips which would have taken months or days were slashed to hours but with all the hype for the new era, it also marked the beginning of the end for another: the end of the once mighty ocean liner. While many opposed the new jetliners, Blue Top Line veteran SS Barnier (entered service: 1913. Lead ship of her class) welcomed the new era with open arms, believing in friendly co-operation from shipping lines and airlines. This went ahead (sort of) when Australian airline Qantas did a fly-over of Barnier in 1959.

Little would she realise what their arrival would mean for her future.
