Description
The Caledonian Railway 191 class was a type of mixed traffic 4-6-0 built in Scotland. They were designed by William Pickersgill in 1922 as a replacement for the old 179 class 4-4-0 "Oban Bogies" on the railway line from Callander to Oban and as a running mate to the new 179 and 184 class 4-6-0s designed by John F. McIntosh in 1913. Eight of the 191 class were built by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow with all built and delivered in December 1922, being numbered 191-198 under the CR.Under LMS service, the entire class was numbered as 14619-14626 as part of the latter company's renumbering system for ex-CR rolling stock. The 191 class was nicknamed by crews as "New Oban Bogies" and were known for normally being short on steam unless skillfully fired, while also gaining the distinction of having the heaviest hammerblow of any type inherited by the LMS. As part of the LMS' standardisation in the 1930s, the "New Oban Bogies" were made non-standard as they were being replaced by the Stanier Class 5 "Black Stanier/Black Five" 4-6-0s on their duties. Withdrawals began in February 1939 with No. 14625 (CR No. 197) with No. 14621 (CR No. 193) being the final withdrawal in December 1945, exactly 23 years after it was built and the class introduced. None survive in preservation.
This base was modified from the Ivatt 2 class 2-6-0 "Mickey Mouse" by GreyhoundProductions . I'm making this base free to use but on the condition that both his and my names are credited. All I did was modify the "Mickey Mouse" into a "New Oban Bogie".
