Description
It was suggested that the engineering section of this version of the USS Buran should be extended and not dipping into the saucer like it did before. He suggested that it would be better for the crew access, but I figure structurally it would make more sense.
Besides, with the outer ring of deck 7 on the Enterprise -- which I made into the evacuation shuttle bay as mentioned on Star Trek Into Darkness, the torpedo pod on the USS Reliant, and the sensor pod on the USS Grissom, I don't think that Star Trek is really too concerned about making sure crew get there outside of Jefferies tubes.
Besides when I saw the Oberth class for the first time, I thought the sensor pod was a warp nacelle due to the grilles on it and what looked like an engine exhaust port on the back like the Kelvin timeline ships. Yes, I saw The Search For Spock LONG before Star Trek (2009). I was 31 when 2009 came out, and I saw TSFS on video when I was 7 or 8.
Anyways I just added a patch to the model from here:

Without changing the model altogether.
And I am avoiding the -- I forgot the term. It came from Star Wars where they added detail on a plain surface of a starship to make it appear more complex. Like the GNDN pipes on Star Trek.
