A cat in the house makes it a home. Two cats in a house is great because then they have each other for company when you are not home and even when you are home. One cat may be mischievous but two will be even worse as one will egg on the other. When there is two they play off each other trying to top each other in getting into trouble. 3 or more cats and THEY OWN YOU and they know it. One time we have 4 cats. Three males and one female (all fixed) and they would get into so many things. Then we had to have the one female cat put down as she had developed stomach issues that the Vet said was hereditary, so the other 3 would not get sick from what was ailing her. After the one was gone, the other 3 got into much less trouble, almost none at all. I found it curious that they would change so much in behavior with the one less of them. Maybe the 3 males acted up to try to impress the one female, maybe. It was common for the 3 males to all sleep together in a pile in a box but they never allowed the one female cat to join them. If she tried to curl up with any one of them they pushed her away and they didn't care if they had to swat at her many times just so she got the message.

The quads as we call them, they have an interesting backstory.
We live in a fourplex -- planning to move, hence the PayPal and GoFundMe posts -- and we have 2 cats that kept coming over and we gave them canned cat food. We named them Nexi -- short for Next Door -- and Imp.
We met the neighbours, got information about the 2, and they were kinda neglected. Nothing but dry cat food, and the litter box had no litter in it.
Nexi was pregnant and we adopted 2 of her kittens we named Tom and Jerry. A few weeks later, their brother, Nibbles, came to us. He was only a few weeks old, and they let him out.
And we covertly adopted him as well.
Through neglect, both Nexi and Toodles were starting to become feral and were going outside to get anything to eat.
We had a nasty snowstorm and we had a pregnant Nexi with us to keep her safe, no clue about Toodles.
They were then evicted and then they left at night, but they didn't take Nexi with them.
We were forced to take Nexi to the SPCA because she hated our other cats, and estranged from her kittens.
After that, Toodles came to us, my wife, GooseyGaunder, managed to grab him and brought him in. And he was starving.
Thanks to covid-19, SPCA was shut to the public and we took him in. It took a while, but he settled quite nicely.
