Description
The jewel of the night sky, the galactic centre of the Milky Way galaxy, rising over a lone tree at Binalong Bay in Tasmania's remote northeast. Bortle 1 skies give a perfect view of the minor features of the region, including Ophiuchus, the Triffid and Lagoon nebulae, and Scorpius, with Jupiter appearing below.This image was recently selected as Highly Commended in the 2020 CWAS 'David Malin Awards', the most prestigious such awards in Australia.
