TWD RUSSIA - Assignment One

Shiro reached up and tied the bright blue lead line to the rope above her, balancing carefully on Beasts' blue back to do so. Finally she had the three horses secured. With a soft sigh she slid down to sit on the taller Obertaurer stallions back and the roan twisted his head around to press his nose affectionately against her knee. "I'm fine, boy." Shiro smiled at the stallion, gently playing with one white ear. "I promise." She was definitely missing home already, though, and the cold! She had known intellectually that it would be bitterly cold but somehow she had still not quite been expecting it. Now she was even more grateful for the shopping Kerrin had demanded they do to prepare her for the winter environment she was planning to immerse herself in months ago.

All that awful choice making had paid off now. Warm, fur lined boots and thick knit socks kept her feet from getting cold even when she dropped down to stand beside her horse in the snow. The vest did a wonderful job of keeping her core warm even though she would have liked to have sleeves on it, the coat that went with the vest and double-sweater's she wore now was draped over her things, the fur lining of the hood dancing in a light breeze.

Shiro pulled herself from her thoughts to glance around at the other entrants arriving and greeting each other. A strange spark of loneliness, something she still didn't have a name for, swelled up inside of her and she inched back towards her horses until the obertaurer stallion draped his head over her shoulder and nickered to her. She hugged him, snuggling up to his warm, fuzzy cheek, and gave a small smile. They were bound to meet some friends on this trail, weren't they?

  "It's alright, if we just stick with the trail leaders we should be fine." Beast snorted and shook his mane at the small, black haired woman and Shito grinned. "Oh, I'm sure you can find your way just fine, boy. I, however, have a problem with maps remember?" Beast snapped his ears back and stamped a front leg in the snow. It had taken hours for Shiro to figure out that not only had she flipped the map upside down- she had been reading the wrong side of it all along! That trail ride had lasted quite a bit longer than expected and Beast was still annoyed about it. Shiro gave another soft chuckle and stepped away from the stallion to check on her borrowed Mountainer's and make sure they were as comfortable as they were going to get in the snow.
