That my friend is a very good guess
All Squiggles drawings are from past memories I have. But they're all very much twisted from reality of what happened. but I figured it's easier to not involve one of the persons. And also to replace one of them with a penguin. And a little figure with a top hat beats me hands down when it comes to cuteness. ^^

I love tophats so it kind of captivated me because mr squiggles wore a tophat.

No one ever died, but I used it as a substitute so I wouldn't have to draw what really did happen. But in a way perhaps someone did die, or pass away in a very unfortunate way?
or perhaps nothing ever happened and they decided to work out all their troubles, and perhaps the penguin still have both of his parents? Who knows?
Perhaps the drawing is just a vision of a life changing moment, nothing sad or nothing especially joyful? ^^

The Idea behind the picture is this: He doesn't like the sun very much because it makes him melt, so he sits on a rock that orbits around the giant moon so he'll be in cover from the sun, but he can't hide forever so eventually the sun pops up, causing him to melt and become a very sad little guy.
I can't explain the buildings or his top hat, other than I like drawing top hats and the buildings fit in somehow.
