so a little while back I used this render in a "fake" leak just as a joke really (I honestly didn't think it looked that good but my friends convinced me to go though with it) and somehow the next day it blew up all over the interneteven one of my favorite channels "game explain" did a discussion about it
I started with the leak on 4chan with this picture sta.sh/027cqovt2l3k
about 3 days later I said the thing was fake with a goofy video (might have been a little mean hearted now that I think about it) www.youtube.com/watch?v=reQNmd… on youtube
however I wasn't planing to say I made it myself until a few days ago (I I'm not gonna say the reason why however)
I really hope I haven't pissed off to many people I didn't think people would fall for it at all

I got into Splatoon since the Super Smash Bros teaser trailer for the Switch, (Spoilers for those who haven't seen this year's Direct. ) and I gotta say, that game was really cool! And Splatoon 2 also. Now that I saw this render... I kinda wanted a DLC... Am I the only one?

I never saw the fake leak, so no worries; then again, I usually just stick to this place, YouTube, and wikias whenever I'm online, so I wouldn't have seen the fake leak itself anyway...
The picture itself is really amazing! Though to be honest, Mario being playable in Splatoon would make him into the most broken character... kinda; he wouldn't get hurt by ink and using water from F.L.U.D.D. would make him a serious threat to the Inklings, but he'd be removing the ink around the area entirely, which would be counterproductive in turf wars. Unless he only cleans up the ink from the opposing team.
I did hear that Splatoon was going to be a Mario game at first (perhaps even the heavily requested "Super Mario Sunshine 2"), which would explain all of the MarioXSplatoon crossover stuff I've been seeing.
Anyways, enough babbling from me; I'm faving this picture!

I never saw the leak, but I think I'd be able to tell this was fake, since I'm very familiar with Mario's design. Mario doesn't look exactly like this. For example, the M on his cap looks like it's sewn on in newer games' artworks. Some other textures also look off. Still well-made, though.

If you want to make it look official next time, maybe also make the textures MUCH sharper, especially the overalls and the belt. the colors also look too much like his in-game colors, his overalls are brighter on the artworks. Maybe also add that realistic-ish effect on his irises, and the texture on his hair. The entire image also looks too... I dunno, smooth. Just some advice.
