Description Their true name is unpronounceable. Our throats don't handle sounds they way they do, so we just call them Books. Had we encountered them first there might have been other names. Monster. Demon. Fiend. Fortune was on our side, however, and they learned of us before we them. They could have remained hidden, but they made their presence known to us in a way crafted in wisdom and compassion. Slowly at first, through transmissions and robot ships. It was a decade before they began sharing physical characteristics with us... height, weight, physiognomy, and then finally pictures.

They knew what they were doing to be sure. We who judge at a glance would have seen creatures from our nightmares and superstitions. We would've declared war out of fear and prejudice and ignorance, but they taught us to look beyond and they gave us a chance to learn who they were before discovering what they were. That made all the difference. It's been a hundred years since we finally met the Books face to face, and since that day they've been our closest friends and mentors. Despite their fearsome appearance they are supremely gentle and anciently wise. Thousands visit their world to learn from their scientists and philosophers, and our race as a whole is better for knowing them. It just goes to show... You can't judge a Book by it's cover.

You did an excellent job of communicating a sense of "humanity" through the Books' poses, particularly the one teaching the woman how to cast a spell.Β

Great imagery. And I mirror *ShadowhawkOne’s feelings. If it is alright with you, I would like to use the idea of them in my own writing, if you’ll allow it?

Outstanding piece of work NICELabs on all fronts! The image is well composed and lit with just enough action to draw your eye without being busy. You have been able to get great emotion out of the character facing the front of the scene to show that it is festive and lighthearted. Getting a great emotional expression is hard at best and you have really made her look great. I really love the magic effect, as I look around the image it keeps drawing me back to it to admire the actors in the foreground. The story is well written and very informative without being boring or long. It compliments and dovetails expertly with the image to make both parts a complete single piece of work.

Thank you very much I'm glad you found so many elements of it pleasing I had received an invite to the group you're in, but wasn't sure I fully understood the theme and if I could contribute meaningfully. This pic, however, I thought might fit into your races section even if I myself didn't join, so I'm glad you like it and hope you accept it as a contribution

Well from the look of this I would say that you could. You did an amazing amount of story telling in a couple of paragraphs here. I think this species you call "Books" could be a very interesting addition to the Realm of Exiles. I would really be interested in seeing something more on them if you feel like it. Even if it is not for our group. Your work is really great and I am going to have to keep an eye on it now.

This the first time ever I've seen an "commercially available evil creature 3d model".. put into a scene in a positive light.
What a refreshing train of thought you imbued into this render.
Thanks!!

You're most welcome I'm honored you like it. I've wanted to do something like this for a while and these guys are just so wicked looking that they were perfect.

Of course I do admit I've used them for the darker, intended purposes as well

Dark enough that the TOS here would have kittens most likely

Thank you Ever since the Nhyloghast came out I had the idea cooking. There's been a wealth of pics made with them being invading aliens or lecherous demons... I've made some myself, but I always wanted to make one where they are the good guys It would be fun to explore this side of them
