These doodles were finished sometime before the Amelia sketch was and done with same intent. I've always liked this character, but had never drawn him because I thought his design seemed like a challenge to replicate. But drawing him actually turned out to be really fun. I used a model sheet and a screencap (the sketch on the bottom right-hand side) as references.Related content

Delbert boooooy. Delbert's an awesome character, NGL. I love your own takes on this character; his personality shines through with the expressions you drew inspiration from (not a pun haha). I love them all, but I especially dig the one in the upper right corner, like he's saying 'WTF?' Those faces are often the best faces to draw. XD

I know I commented on these before, but I just wanted to say again how much I like these. 
And after looking up a synopsis of the proposed sequel, he would have never been seen again. What a wonderful close bond Jim made with all the people who helped him.

Hey, screw platonic relationships and familial love and support. That cuts into precious time that could be spent on teh romance with cute feisty catgirls! I hope that sequel idea was just a rumor, but knowing Disney and their general track record with DTV sequels... :frown:

I googled it again and found a different article about the proposed sequel. This one actually DOES talk about Doppler and Amelia, so I guess they're still around as background characters:
"Captain Amelia is dean of the Academy, which has a brand-new vessel: the Centurion. Designed by Doctor Doppler, the Centurion is the fastest ship in the galaxy. B.E.N. is its pilot."
The other synopsis I found didn't even mention them once and made it sound like they weren't there at all LOL. But the fact they could be easily written out of a synopsis tells you something TBH.

That's a relief... kind of. Still disappointing to hear that they're suck in the background again. I guess I shouldn't expect Disney to focus too much on background characters, but they seem to make an exception for popular ones like Kronk from Emperor's New Groove or Timon and Pumbaa. Amelia has a big fan following, so I'm sort of surprised they didn't focus on her.
Thanks for the link! It's always cool to check out concept art, and that Amelia/Delbert storyboard at the bottom is great. Lion-O Space Mufasa Admiral Blake looks awesome too.
