Description
Just feeding my obsession with Mieville's cactus men, but this page is mostly dedicated to trying to understand what I think the Khepri look like. This is one approach, and it's truer to what my mind's eye saw while reading the book, but I'd like to take it in another direction from here...pending a little research in the nature lab.I'm particularly pleased with the catacae head and stature studies...

I think you nailed the transition from the humanoid body to the beetle head in the neck better than any other depiction I've seen so far.
The cactus-man is pretty cool too.

Ran across this while looking for Mieville fanart. Gotta say, you draw the best khepri I've seen so far (seems like a lot of other people just draw, quite literally, a BEETLE stuck onto a human neck. Whaa?) Nice work!
