Description Godzilla vs. The Cloverfield Monster
(Pen and digital color)

I made this right after seeing Cloverfield. Of course, at the point I drew this, I was just going on what I remembered from the movie and the few stills of the monster on the web. Although this picture came out well, in my opinion, the fact that Clovey is wrong makes me dislike it. Thus, into 'My Scraps' it goes.

The larger the creature the more food it needs & animal mothers after their pregnancy can become ravenous easily.

Since when does size matter? Godzilla can stand at ground zero if a meteor and not even suffer a scratch (Final Wars), it was a small meteor, probably no bigger than 100 m, but that still means Godzilla can handle 38 megatons without any kind of damage. Even an adult Clover wouldn't be able to do shit to Godzilla. On top of that Godzilla can lift 20K tons and throw it into the atmosphere (Final Wars). Clover has nothing that could really hurt Godzilla, while Godzilla is able to spew out nuclear fire over and over.
Godzilla wins.

True. Good points. I recently watched the new Godzilla film, and it reminded me of the fact that he can withstand nuclear weapons. Also, his heat ray is damn powerful, especially that of the Heisei and Final Wars Godzilla.

Yeah, Godzilla would win. It wouldn't be easy, though, when you consider how large an adult Cloverfield monster would be. The adult version would also be far more durable than Clover (who was taken down only after intense carpet-bombing that destroyed Manhattan).

I hope I wasn't offensive.

Lol, how thin skinned would I have to be to get offended at Godzilla vs Cloverfield? XD

Anyway, Godzilla would be able to take anything any Clover (baby or adulk) would be able to dish out. Through some research I have found that the Mk-82 bombs (the ones used to drop on Clover) each have an explosive yield of 438 megajoules. If we look back at Godzilla's history we can see that he was an analogy for the bombing of Hiroshima and so his nuclear breath should be proportional to that, I'd say somewhere in the terajoules (the atomic bomb that blew up over Hiroshima was 63 terajoules), just for some perspective it takes 1,000,000 megajoules to equal 1 terajoule. Godzilla's breath would be able to harm Clover.

Suppose Clover tried to bite Godzilla. Do you think his teeth could penetrate Godzilla's tough hide? Also, let's assume that Clover carries the same poison that the parasistes have. Do you think the poison would cause Godzilla to explode, or would his regenerative capabilities kick in and prevent that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

rakaru In reply to s1cohen [2014-05-21 20:26:43 +0000 UTC]

Godzilla's flesh can tank an armor-piecing missile that is able to sheer through 3 ft thick concrete and are 'so powerful they can cut through any known material', they didn't even draw blood (Godzilla 2000). I wouldn't be surprised if Clover's teeth never penetrated Godzilla's skin, and if they somehow managed to the poison wouldn't effect Godzilla. I think Regenerator G1 fights off things like that before they even have a chance, hence why only poisons which soak of radiation work on Godzilla (as in Godzilla vs Biollante). For the sake of argument let's say the poison did effect Godzilla, it would take a while for it to be noticeable and any damage would be healed quickly, Godzilla 2000 shows the Regenerator G1 can heal scars within hours, littler things would be healed within minutes and prevent any real damage from occurring.

I enjoyed that movie. I thought the queen Muto was damn creepy. The male one looked like a combination of the Cloverfield monster and the Gyaos creatures from the Gamera films.

I loved how Godzilla killed the queen at the end.

Godzilla has the nuclear edge and is impervious to most weaponry, but being smacked around by a Cloverfield (or an assumedly larger adult version) could do some damage I suppose.

I'd love to see this fight. I'm a fan of Kaiju in general, not just Godzilla. When it comes to Kaiju, I'm never one to jump to conclusions in a battle. We've seen Godzilla is a top notch fighter, but we have yet to see Clover's limits, he appeared to move slowly and carefree despite the artillery that was being fired at him, Godzilla tends to flail about when being shot at. Clover didn't even react until the bombing while the main characters were in that Helicopter. It didn't seem to damage the creature, but knocked it over. This was the only moment that the monster seemed remotely angry, and at that moment it showed it's speed and agility with one insane leap, a leap that we don't even know tests it's limits. And after everything that was done, it survived, and for all we know unscathed.

I'm well aware Godzilla is the king, but don't be so quick to judge the new guy when, so far, he has shown no signs of weakness.

(One thing we do know, Godzilla has to stomp on a tank to disable it. Clover could step on a tank casually and completely flatten it.)
