Description An inked piece I posted the pencils for earlier. Done for Bob Hardin's Basic Drawing 2 class at JKS. Now I have to color it, and when I do I'll post that! It's of a lady warrior's corpse by a gnarly japanese elm tree and she's getting overgrown with vegetation. I know it's gray and kind of hard to read, but that's what happens when I'm left to my own devices!

Oh absolutely. I sneaked a peak at your gallery, and I'm sure you'll do a bangup job! Much better than I could ever do! Please feel free to color more of my black and white comic pages too, because I'm too lazy and not talented enough to color them myself. I'll be waiting!

The fatally wounded female warrior dies at the base of a secluded battle torn maple, and quietly becomes part of the dense wooded landscape. Her one hand is planted on her empty weapon. The other clings to the hollow that received the last of several wounds. During two private years, a variety of plant life has gently thanked her, protected her, and made her one with the forest, while
peacefully growing the brave patriot into the lush afterlife.

1: dude, that is fukin brilliant. Inks that rival that of (dare i say) Kim DeMulder.

2: great splash page consept. I was just sayin the other day how the splash page is so commonly raped due to action sequences and entrances, and that there should be a good splash for once in a comic, that i wanted to bring it back....well you beat me to the punch. Amazing job.

3: and this page is defiantly being add to my favorites.''

bravo

1. You're too kind! To even be mentioned in the same sentence as Kim DeMulder when it comes to inking is an honor. He taught me a lot last year. He knew I was, and still am, a big fan of textures. He suggested I leave breathing room and everything doesn't always need to be filled. I'm still struggling with that but it's constantly in the forefront of my mind now every time I draw or ink something. Glad you like it!

2. I'm a big fan of the splash page and even double page splashes. If used 'properly' a good writer and artist can hit you with one when you turn a page and you might not see it coming. I get flack for it, but I'm a huge fan of Erik Larsen and Savage Dragon. He's a writer artist, so maybe he knows more about laying out and composing a book so the splashes aren't abused or monotonous. You never know if the first page, last page, what given page, will be a splash or when there will be a double page splash. I understand your frustration though. Do your thing man, I'm interested in seeing what you got! Thanks again!

3. Much appreciated. It always boggles me when I do something that I'm not too thrilled with and others really seem to like it. I'm not complaining mind you, it's just funny. Thanks so much again!!
