Tokyo, Japan, 11:49 a.m. A news broadcast showed on all screens, television or otherwise. Diethard was on the screen, holding a microphone.

Diethard: Hello, people of Japan, people of the world. My name is Diethard Ried. Head of media for the Black Knights. Like most of you, I, too, was outraged at Britannia’s actions. However, the feelings didn’t become extreme until much later. At first, I was intrigued by Zero’s actions in rescuing Suzaku Kururugi, and every action since then. But, that’s not why I’m talking to you, today. No...I’m speaking to you in request of support. At Mt. Fuji, there will be a battle for the fate of the world as we know it. Samuel Hawking has a vast, powerful army, and has the capability to fire WMD warheads to anywhere in the world. If he wins, he’ll kill all of us. So, please...lend us your support, cheer us on. I will beg, if I have to. This is Diethard Red, signing off.

As soon as Diethard’s signal was turned off, the people shouted loudly in support of the heroes who took down Britannia, cheering and hoping for their success. Meanwhile, at Mt. Fuji, the Black Knights and Tokyo Mavericks were in position, ready to face Hawking’s forces. The tension was clear, the condition of the world hinging on the battle that was about to transpire. Seconds passed, with each second, a drop of sweat off of a random pilot or support on the bridges of the ships. With one last second, it was 12:00, high noon. In the distance, the target could be seen, the Damocles. However, on approach were Knightmares and airships with Britannian and Confederate Enclave colors, hundreds of them. It was perceived that there might be thousands alone to protect the Damocles.

Schneizel: Here they come.
Alistair: Zero, I’m counting on you to time my approach.
Zero: Roger that. Black Knights! Prepare for battle, at once! If you’re out of ammo in your weapons, procure them from downed enemy units, including Gareths! You have every right to fight as you see fit, because you deserve to win!
Black Knights: (in unison) Yes, Zero!
Zero: (thinking) This is just the front part, to try and wear us down. If we can get through them, and handle the forces surrounding the Damocles, we can get inside, and destroy the chain of command. Simple. Difficult, but simple. Right… (out loud) Snipers, in position!

The Masakado went to the bow of the Yatagarasu, aiming its new anti-materiel sniper rifle, as other sniping Knightmares took their positions in front of the ships.

Zero: The moment the Damocles is in front of us, open fire, test its defenses! Artillery forces, take aim and fire!

Knightmares with cannons equipped to their arms or backs took firing positions, aiming their weapons and opening fire on the enemy Knightmares, destroying a portion of them. The enemy returned fire, only to miss their marks just barely, losing more of their forces from the cannon fire. The enemy then took up a new position, to charge at the ships.

Zero: Gotcha. All ships, fire your cannons! Now!

The Avalon charged up its newly equipped Tesla Cannon, as the Ikaruga charged its Hadron Cannons. Due to the Yatagarasu’s Hadron Gatling Cannons being too powerful, two Gareths took position and charged both of their Hadron Cannons. Upon the completion of the charges, the cannons fired, all at once. The resulting blasts left the enemy forces destroyed, the front part completely gone.

Zero: Yes, it worked! No energy wasted.
Tohdoh: Good eye, Zero. That’s why you’re our leader.
Ohgi: The Damocles is increasing speed!
Alistair: I see ‘em…
Zero: Fire!

The Masakado fired its anti-materiel rifle, the Michizane fired its rail gun, and every other sniper Knightmare fired their rifles at the Damocles. The shots seemed to have made an impact, but when the smoke cleared, so did the familiar glimmer of a Blaze Luminous shield.

Jeremiah: I knew it! Blaze Luminous!
Zero: Good job! We’ll get it, next time. Navigation, perform a scan on the Damocles! Find out where the Blaze Luminous generator is located!
Ikaruga Navigation Crew: Right!

The Damocles kept up its approach, and stopped near Mt. Fuji, surrounded by thousands upon thousands of Knightmares and airships, the fortress towering overhead.

Kallen: Holy shit…
Tohdoh: This is a long haul, alright.
Alistair: We can’t quit now. In the face of danger, we show our grit and spit at it.
Zero: Right. On my mark!
Hawking: (over radio) So good of you to arrive, Black Knights and Tokyo Mavericks. Today, just a few minutes after high noon, will mark either your victory or mine. Whether the world should be saved, or devastated. There will be no anticlimax. ENCLAVE!

The enemy forces began preparing for battle, aiming at the Black Knights and Tokyo Mavericks.

Hawking: KILL.
Zero: Chaaarge!
