I like the Three eyes it is nice seeing a twist on old Cthulhu. Also the draping wings are a very nice twist. Oddly enough it looks akin to my [link] star spawn piece but staying separately unique. By the way is that a black moon or star? Hope you like my version

thanks. it is different, and not my favorite interpretation, however it's good to experiment. it could be a moon, solar eclipse, or yog-sothoth! i left it ambiguous, it's more interesting that way.

Always good to experiment. By the way I am pumping out a line of Lovecraftian artwork. Mainly concepts of how I interpret the descriptions or feel of the beings. Feel free to keep an eye out. However lately stuff I have put out hasn't been showing up on the search engine till like days later. Driving me buggy ya know?

Until I hit full view, and even though I knew better, all I could think of was that Cthulhu was enjoying a campfire.

I love the work you did.

Yeah, Cthulhu's back from the stars, and he's going to invade the world and to decimate the human race.
He's handsome (l).
You are really endowed to draw this fuckin creature.
Will you try to make Shub-niggurath or Yog-Sottoth one day?

nicktheartisticfreak In reply to xdopethr0nex [2007-02-07 22:54:35 +0000 UTC]

thank you! when i read about those creatures and get some kind of mental image i will reproduce them. i have started reading another anthology of lovecraft's work with eager eyes, so, you shouldn't have to wait too long

I should eat irony for breakfast, I actually read the story last night. I thought it was excellent, it reminded me of Poe, particularily "The Gold Bug". But if I'm not mistaken both Lovecraft and Poe wrote relatively close in time. It was kind of funny, afterwords I started to read this "young adult's book" that used a lot of slang and I had to stop, it was disgusting. It was like jumping from Mensa International to ... the intellect level in an angry mob.

nicktheartisticfreak In reply to FisforFlunk [2007-01-29 06:37:28 +0000 UTC]

haha, right on.
actually, i think poe was a hundred years before lovecraft. the two are compared because of their styles, although it's hard to place their work in a specific time. i am reading one of poe's novels, it's about pirates!... and it is a lot like h.p.'s stuff. i cannot imagine jumping from lovecraft to a cheesy young adult book, must have been a jarring experience. you have my sympathy.

oh yes it was ... it was terrifying!
100 years? really that much? oh I see now. Glorious wikipedia can clear it all up. =] Either way I find both very entertaining.

nicktheartisticfreak In reply to FisforFlunk [2007-01-30 04:26:40 +0000 UTC]

yeah i thought it was like 20 years until i checked the publishing dates on the novel. h.p. lived near to where poe did as well.

yes, it has diffused into every orifice of creative excretion, every one has been affected, in some small way. the finest art(not limited to writing), is subject to osmosis. it can spread like bacteria. and those of us who are addicted to lovecraft's writing, know how great the infection really is.
