Description Well, after a (somewhat) long abscense from DA, I bring you ter another image from the Dark Millenium of Warhammer 40,000.
When I was first asked to illustrate The Emperor ([link] ) I remember that I was (as I said in my comments) quite daunted by the project, because he is such an iconic character that you either do a good job, or utterly fail. Fortunately, I managed to do the former.
Now I was asked to render the Emperor's most loyal and powerful son, and also the cause of the greatest grief that ever shook the foundations of the Imperium of Man: Horus.
Yet another very powerful and tricky (to say the least!) character, that took me a while to finish; but I think the end result is as 'big' and worthy of pride as was the Emperor.

I hope you will like it as much as you did my previous piece of the saviour of mankind.

Until soon.

Nic.-

It's actually sad. A once idealistic individual and he fell so hard that he ended up becoming an exterminatus weapon.

I dont see Horus as having participated in the heresy: that was a different Horus.
Why wont you draw the loyal Horus, the greatest son? Thats the real deal, instead of this treaturous, inverted, black piece of rat vomit. And I mean the latter character.
The drawing though, is great.

I was just about to comment on another work of yours, then I stumbled upon this. Of course, I can't leave this without saying a few words.

Horus is one of my favorite 40k characters, particularily since I read the HH series. I feel you've captured his essence perfectly here.
The gold is nothing short of great, it really shines. I think his armor could stand to be a bit darker in places, but what do I know?

Great work.

Thank you very much, mate! I actually look upon this work now with a bit of a critic eye myself and there's lots of things I'd change. I think you've a point with the blackness of the armour and there are bits of lighting here and there I'd change, as well as some other details...

I have a nice interesting epic illustration of the final battle between Sanguinius and Horus that might help me do those tweaks I've mentioned ...

I hope you like that one as much as you did this one!

Hehe, yeah. I always spot errors or 'faulty bits' AFTER I've finished something, if at all. By that point, I'm a far too lazy person to even consider changing it. Happens to the best of us, I'm sure.

I think I know what Illustration you're referring to (I have the poster from White Dwarf <3), and I was going to mention the resemblance of your Horus to that one. I might have left that part out because at the time of commenting I was just about to stress out to work. That's also the reason I didn't comment on your newest Dorn until some hours later.

Anyways, I was going to complement you on managing to keep the menacing aspects and treathening prescence of Horus despite a total transition in style.

And I'm sure I will love that one, will certainly check it out.

Thank you, mate! I think this piece is actually one step above (in certain areas) than the Emperor himself. But that is the way of nature: the created always rises up and surpasses the Creator.
