Description I always related to Reed Richards.

Quite a statement, since he's often referred to by others as being selfish, self-centered, arrogant, egotistical... and so on. But in spite of all those things, he is still an amazing human being, always worried that the world might be in danger or that his wife feels bad or his old friend's body won't ever be the same as it used to be.

And he's the smartest man alive. Who can't relate to that?

I usually am over-stressed, working like crazy wihout paying attention to anyone and generally being an asshole. But I make up for it with all the kindness I can muster when I realise I've been neglecting the things that really matter. In the meantime, though, I may come up with an illustration that will "Wow!" many folks, so I think in the end everything balances itself out. And my wife still tolerates me, so... I can't be all that bad!

I think these MiniMasterpieces are really saving my life. They'e so fun to work on and I can finally take some time to draw the characters I used to love as a kid. I'm re-reading a lot of FF lately, mostly the good old stuff, by Stan and Jack. There's a lot to be said for that time in comics, which I think has not been challenged since by any other story. Fun, entertaining and engaging stories. The stuff of legends.

I hope you enjoy and wtach out for The Human Torch coming up soon!

I like these kind of complicated characters — he may be arrogant, bossy, rude, neglectful and self-absorbed, but he's also incredibly moral and idealistic, loves his wife and family, is always loyal to his friends, really wants to help people, and has loads of guilt over both the cosmic ray accident and the fact that he's the reason Dr Doom is always trying to kill the FF and take over the world. Some more poorly crafted characters can feel like they've got a bunch of cool traits and a bunch of requisite flaws all jumbled together randomly, but Reed's character (as well as most Stan Lee characters, as a matter of fact) really feels organic; you can see where his flaws and strengths flow into each other logically to create a distinct and original personality.

Plus, despite all the heroics and superintelligence and long words and techo-genius, inside he's really just an hyperactive little kid going "oooh shiny!" at all the awesome stuff around him, which is just plain cute

In all honesty I never much cared for Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic.

The thing is, it was never because of his personality, or at least that played the smallest role, because I could relate to his single mindedness on the task at hand. I think the main problem I had with Richards is... that, I like Dr.Doom more.

Yeah... hes suppose to be a villain, but I can't help it. I always wanted to root for Dr.Doom to finally get a win over the annoyingly timely victories that Mr.Fantastic was able to pull from his stretchy nether regions.

It was seemingly always the same thing, Dr.Doom or some villains plan is going great and victory is in their grasp... then suddenly! Mr.Fantastic and his backup singers come in with an invention specially designed to beat the bad guy.

In honor of Dr.Doom I throw my hands towards the heavens and scream:

RICHARDS!!!

Gotta love Reed. I relate to him most out of the Fantastic Four as well. And I love his look of focused concern, which I imagine he gets no matter what he's working on; be it a new use for common rubber or the Fantastic-Defeat-Doctor-Doom-Ray!

Probably some super-mega-ultra ray beam of defense against aliens. Or a nw PC that doesn't crash all the time. Isn't that what troubles humanity?

Yes but the cost for that kind of PC would put the Defense Budget of the US into Debt 10 times over.
