I'm a Sonamy shipper as well, though I do/did like Sally Acorn as a character.  I admired her for being tomboyish, for being a princess yet being willing to accompany the Freedom Fighters on dangerous missions.  (And yes, I do wish she still had just the vest and boots for an outfit, but I understand why she was redesigned.)

Yeah... she's an interesting yet open minded character that knows how to take charge at times, when the Freedom fighters need it the only thing I'd dislike her for is her selfishness that comes outa fin air sometimes but other than that she's a good character.(yeesh apparently SEGA doesn't like Chipmunks going au naturel~😂)

I suspect a lot more people became sensitized to Sally's former minimal attire only after she was redesigned with (among other things) a substantial outfit.  It makes me wish I could turn back the clock to before that change occurred, and ask how many people objected to Sally wearing much less clothing than other female characters.  To me, the vest and boots was always the extent of Sally's outfit, even if it wasn't much.  Of course, she would look "naked" to me if those vest and boots were removed, even though in both cases she's not showing off any more than any of the male characters.  And let's not forget about Julie-Su.  She didn't wear any pants either, and yet I can't think of one instance where someone complained.  (Yes, she did wear a shirt, but with that size chest, it'd look weird without something covering it up.  And she wore a belt for functional reasons, much like Sally wore that vest.)

It's an odd double standard that occurs.  Males with only gloves/shoes are OK, females with full outfits are OK, but females with only gloves/shoes are seemingly not OK.  What if, from the beginning when all these characters were first introduced, there were far fewer female characters who wore substantial outfits?  Would people be indifferent then?  First impressions are incredibly powerful.
