I honestly don't know how to get into the cartoon business either.

 We'll figure how to get into the cartoon business ones of these days.

 Lets focus on building up a kickass portfolio for now.

 Have you tried asking any friends already working in the cartoon industry for advice?

I actually haven't tried to work on cartoons; I'm mostly doing sci-fi and comic style stuff; but I really love cartoon art. I'll put up a portfolio and begin throwing it to see what happens.

You can always self publish a comic-book since you mentioned comic book style stuff.

 Did you know that the original Teenage mutant ninja turtles Comic book started as a self published book?

 I never self published a comic book before but you basically contact a lot of independent retailers and try to convince them to carry your book.

 Do whatever you can to get more experience as an artist.

I have a numerous collection of self published zines, mostly humor or urban philosofical stuff and some grotesque weird stories. I was thinking about translating them to english and put them on Gumroad since I have no mediums to release those phisically outside my country. I've been experimenting with selling online mostly erotic stuff (the easiest way to catch people) and things are moving forward, so I figured that I could try doing it with my more serious work (even if serious means dick jokes).
I'm a huge fan of the turtles and have the first issues, they are absolute greatness.

hey! I use the color pencils over the acrylics (they'e not watercolor, just regular color pencils). I just scratch the shadows with different tones and colors. I'm not sure how the watercolors would work, maybe it can give you an interesting result

That's a good trick. I'm trying to add shadows to my helium balloons and I think it'd be easier to use pencils than acrylic with a brush. 

Have you put varnish over the whole thing yet? I don't know if varnish will erode the color pencil or something like that.

I havent yet; I wanted to put acrylic varnish to my paintings sprayed with an airbrush, but I'm kinda lazy to plug the thing and then clean it up. I don't think it would affect the painting, specially if I'm using fine layers of sprayed varnish; fine enough so it would dry almost immediatelly after it touches the paper.
