Been trying to get this pose for at least a year. It's reeeeeally difficult but here's my second attempt. *I deleted my first attempt cuz it was ugly* But anyways, this is Stoick's demise

This is seriously AWESOME.
I really love how you made the linework look simple and stylized but still kept all the amazing details that really define toothless as a character in. And the effect with the depth of field is just WOW.

This is a beautifully created depiction of by far the most intense scene in the HTTYD franchise, as well as mindfucking and tearjerking on my part. I knew Stoick was going to die, but I sure as hell did not expect him to do so at the hand of Toothless. Well, in actuality it was the doing of Drago Bludvist (that fucker) and his accessory to murder, big bad Bewilderbeast. The sin was his, not Toothless's. My poor baby was just an innocent pawn. Β

I know--after he died I didn't know if I liked Toothless anymore. But I learned to like the fact that Stoick would sacrifice himself for Hiccup and loved the scene and it's music altogether--however I had no idea he was gonna die and was mind-blown by it so much I nearly threw my soda at the theater screen.Β

There are fans out there who blame Toothless for it, and to that I facepalm myself because that is not the case. Stoick saved his son, but he most certainly wouldn't have crucified Toothless for something he had no control over. That is what some idiots are doing. And of course, I'm not saying you are an idiot, hon. I understand perfectly about how you felt. As for me, I was like, "This is going to be a huge burden on Toothless's heart and mind! Noooooooo!

Well I know now Toothless is all good--just my first initial reaction was like 'DAYYUMMM what the heck Toothless you're crazy go away!' But I know--well I figure Toothless figured it out on his own about what happened reeeeal quick. I just think the scene is amazing, I absolutely adore the soundtrack going with it, calling back to the first time Toothless *almost* killed Stoick in the first movie.Β

Ppl always claim how amazing the soundtrack is but they don't figure out just HOW amazing it is with its musical themes and callbacks to the first movie.
I personally thought it was a reference to the first film when hiccup nearly stabs toothless at the start, and then later in the climax when hiccup AND toothless both are about to die. For me it was always a sign that one of their lifes was in danger... But i may be wrong.

It's the best, I've heard it all 10 times over. I also adore the newer themes, such as when Valka first appears on Cloudjumper...so unique. And dire music will be dire. It's all got some catchy theme to it.Β

Indeed, and i just love how the whole thing goes down near the end in "toothless found" and the entire orchestra plays the "lost and found" theme which powell uses a lot in the film (also at the part where valka first appears in "toothless lost" i think)-- it's just so incredibly deep. I think the httyd-films have the best soundtrack since the lord of the rings. And i mean it.

It's the Night Fury theme, which I agree is beautiful. But, actually, I think the song is first heard in the Downed Drsgon scene, when Toothless pins Hiccup to the rock and just stares him down, which was pretty fucking intense when I first saw it. John Powell is a god of composing! Β x3

We don't know yet. We have to wait and, I guess, hope for the best, because I'm concerned that pulling a sudden book canon card is not really a good idea for DreamWorks Animation's image. I mean, people lost their shit about Stoick dying already...
