Actually they are less of an opposite than Discord/Celestia (harmony/chaos) but share a lot of common ground like being a part of nature (chaos like storm or tornado and Fluttershy's love toward animals and plants), Fluttershy liking his jokes (as only creature, even Pinkie didnt like them in Twilight Kingdom) and both of them being "loners" (Fluttershy being the only pegasi who live on the ground and not having anyone except animals living with her and Discord being the only spirit of chaos who is not tolerable by anyone since he was an ex-villain)
SO basically they share a lot but not too much like Pinkie/Cheese but also not totally as polar opposites liek Discord/Celestia or Discord/Twilight

Exactly! I encounter very few people that really get that, and it makes seeing these (at least slightly) misused ship stereotypes just kinda hard to work with.
