These were done in June but I'm just now uploading them.
Here are some concept art scenes for CSE! These were mostly done for style and background practice. I'm going to attempt to make the bgs and atmosphere for the comic to be equivalent to these in quality. 8')
Each of these pictures took me around two days of work. However, I only worked one day on the first one, since the bg was much simpler in comparison to the others.
The second bg is referenced from this photo from google: www.google.com/search?q=jungle… ;I thought my version looked close enough to the original to need a link to the source lol
The set up for Iyogo Kingdom's capital (the bottom one) may change in the future. I'm still debating on whether it would look better on the side of a mountain, or in a valley.
I have been trying my best to get the comic ready for updates again, but because of more important stuff, I only get to work on it in bits here and there. ;; I'm really close to finally being free from owed art, so as long as nothing else comes up, I'll be able to make the comic my main priority again!

Thank you! And yes, I use Sai for most of the art, then I take it into Photoshop for finishing touches/effects.

Oh nice! Good idea with the Photoshop too! Do you use special brush settings for the backgrounds or just the brushes that Sai comes with?

It's a custom brush I made in Sai: nightrizer.tumblr.com/image/14… (the one on the right) It's simple but I find it works well for painting backgrounds. c:

I personally think that the mountain bit would work because a) It might be set near a volcano for the "Fire" aspect of this world's main elements & b) GEMS. LOTTA GEMS FOR DRAGONS (If they're remotely the same as the ones in the Spyro universe. Lastly, The castle might be light the TARDIS. Small on the outside only because people haven't truly dug deep, Really deep to see the inside. It might work being on the side of the mountain for the sake of location, architecture, element & concepts. possibilities could be done with a side of a mountain.

Thank you for your input! Yeah, I always thought of the dragons' kingdom to have an entire cave system on the side of a mountain, so that would probably work best! With the concept here, I wanted to explore how it would work if it was located in a valley instead. Also, having a somewhat-secret cave system would be very helpful to the plot. c;
I was kinda imagining there being a zigzagging staircase that lead to the highest cliff where The Temple resides. On the zigzagging path would be homes, cave entrances, and miscellaneous buildings/special areas. This concept would also help diversify this kingdom's capital city from the others.
The dragons in this story don't have an obsession with hording gems (not to say they don't like them though lol). A lot of the minerals they mine are used in crafting which they're best known for. There's actually no volcanoes located anywhere in the kingdoms (I thought a volcano located in the dragon's territory to be too predicable. Also, it wouldn't make sense for one to be there...I can't say much more because of spoilers haha).
