After seeing The Lion Guard, of course I had to draw this gal. C: I tried to stylize her like the original TLK style so I took some artistic liberties with this re-design. Additionally, I attempted to make her markings look more like a king cheetah's while still having a likeliness to her regular design.
The Lion Guard was ok-ish imo. It was more aimed for younger kids than older TLK fans so it wasn't as great as the original movies. The animation was awkward at times, but the backgrounds were really gorgeous. *-*

Fuli is actually a pretty cool character! I just really REALLY wished that they made her have SOLID spots instead of LEOPARD spots since she is a cheetah.

If I were a character on The Lion Guard, I'd be a jackal boy with a crush on her. Id go through comical, yet desperate measures to woo her.

They did the "confusing a cheetah for a leopard" thing... this hurts me. But otherwise I enjoy the show. It's sweet, the backgrounds are lovely and the music is nice

Um actually, Fuli is a King Cheetah. King Cheetahs have marking similar to Leopards and are an endangered species.Β This is a King Cheetah Β So yeah, the writers knew what they were doing. (doesn't mean the show is good, though.)

Plus the Fuli doesn't have tear stain markings in the show, thats what really separates the cheetah markings from the leopard's

I know what a King Cheetah is. I live in south africa. BUT, if you look at that picture you linked, the spots are still solid. Leopards have "donut" markings, which is what the gave Fuli, so no, they did not. I still like her design, it's cute. But they gave her leopard spots, NOT King Cheetah spots

Technically the error was with the phrasing, not the grammar, but I guess it still applies XD There's no "Phrasing Nazi" after all haha. It drives me nuts when people say things like "It's addicting" (which isn't technically incorrect but it's use in place of addictive is totally unnecessary and it sounds ridiculous) or "For all intensive purposes" (which is just outright incorrect) *shudder*

Ikr, I hate it when someone says "for all intensive purposes" instead of "for all intents and purposes", it drives me up a wall, lol. Or when people pronounce something incorrectly when they know how it's really pronounced. My bf said 'excape', instead of 'escape', because he had pronounced it that way since he was little. But, even after I corrected him, he still says it strangely.

I thought the design quality in liongaurd was pretty poor for something based on a film as stunning as the lion king.I think your design here is actually much more attractive. The designs/style have put me off watching it a bit tbh.

Aw, I like your design so much better, she doesn't even look like a cheetah in the show. I found the whole thing to be pretty cheesy, but I guess kids will enjoy it. The look of the show was definitely gorgeous though it wasn't my cup of tea. I really wish that they had made Fuli look more like an actual cheetah, like the cheetahs that were at the start of the original TLK. Those were beautiful!

Yeah I was kinda disappointed with the Lion Guard. I thought it was gonna be like a third movie or something but eh. It's not that great. It's a little cheesy.
