Okay, so I finally scrounged up a few more pages of these things, which I've redone at least twice now! I think we're finally getting to the end of what I can find right now, so let me just get on with the descriptions.1. A cute little baby dragon design I made while working on another design on the previous draft of this page.
2. A squishy-looking energy cat-thing.
3. Don't know what kinda hallucinations I was havin' when I first designed this, but apparently winged scythe lobster. Take it as you will...
4. A very Madoka Magica-based design of an idea for a recurring monster for a manga idea I had, I called these little abstract thingies "PartyBoys" for their party-hat designs. Basically they were supposed to be a kind of monster that escaped into this dimension that loved to cause destruction and mischief whilst looking cute (4.1.) but would take on monolithic monster forms (4.2.) as they destroyed more and more. Anywho, I figured it fit here. I've put weirder on these pages.
5. A set of floofs with teeth, okay, next question.... Lol, I have no idea, but the thought process behind this thing was "Jumpluff with attitude". Honestly, I ended up running out of critters to fit on this side of the page, and so began brainstorming some really quick to fill blank spaces.
6. Another design I just BS'd to fill space, I decided to try to make a literal dragonfly design, a small, exoskeletal dragon bug with "wings" made of interconnected insect wings. It was actually pretty fun/to do the wings, as I had been trying to figure out how this wing idea worked for quite a while.
7. I will be blunt: All I ever really got done of this design was the head (and mostly the horns) so, this time, that's all I decided to include, as the attempt at the body I tried to add to its 're-drawing" was, quite honestly, terrible. Starting with the horns, I'd tried to design a monster design like in the Monster Hunter series, but that failed sooooo badly. Still think it's pretty cool though...
8. Ah, the legendary Derpafly, forever circling the globe, flailing on the winds, searching for their singular prey: the face. Once they find unsuspecting prey in their line of flight, they will spread their wings wide in an attempt to engulf the entire facial area in their body-span. What the Derpafly does next once it has captured its prey is unknown, but the universal reaction that the prey has in its frantic flailing of limbs seems to suggest it is all too unpleasant... Or maybe they just want the darn bug off. XDDD
9. Another race from the fantasy/sci-fi series I've talked about previously, I decided that something cliche like dwarves was too mainstream... so I went with an even older cliche/joke, mole-people. Named the "Duar" in honor of the race they totally aren't just reskins of, what'reyoutalkingabout?! lol In seriousness, I decided to combine the characteristics of several dark/dingy species, and give my mole-people moth antennae to help them feel around in the dark of their subterranean homes, and, yes, they are sentient and technologically advanced for the age of the story in which they live. There's more to talk about, but where I live, it's late and I want to get through these pages soon.
10. A cute little dinosaur, and yes, more filler.
11. I based it on the idea of a sloth-kappa creature. More filler, yes.
12. An adorable sentient basket creature. More filler, but I really like this one!
13. I... actually found this one late on compiling this page. Inspirations from Sgt. Frog and Madoka Magica, but I still have no idea what it's supposed to be. lol
14. Ke'Oala, a large guardian snake (again from that fantasy/sci-fi series) that judged the worthy and the wicked that attempted to enter the temple to the main god of that story (a huge plot point and key to saving the world, blah blah), equipped with a curved blade and large hammer on the ends of its split tail and sporting a tri-forked tongue, it can sense your sins, intentions, and patron deity (-ies) with the deep blue orbs in its head that give it the title of "The Azure-Eyed Serpent".
15. An evil creature I originally actually designed with the idea of making a creature I could totally see working in a really corny show like, say, Power Rangers? Something that could really work as 'cool' with the rubber suit style of monster-of-the-week for a live-action show. However, I decided to lose a lot of that inspiration when re-drawing it and just drew it as a horrible bipedal alligator-monster that tended to swallow its victims whole. I decided to keep the large, kinda floppy-looking mouth from the original design, because it was kind-of the whole point of drawing the thing. I don't know, honestly, why I'm so proud of it...
16. Last really important part of this page, another species from that fantasy/sci-fi series I keep bringing up, though this one's mostly from the science fiction-ish part. A Phyrgan, a sort of fire-man that used to live on the planetary system's twin suns before one went supernova (god magic and shit was used to save the system from destruction, moving on), they ended up developing thermal insulation suits that allowed them to visit the planets within and outside their system without literally setting everything, including the ground, creatures, and even atmosphere of these worlds, on fire by just being there. How they managed this, to be honest, I didn't think of, but come on!! Interstellar fire men from the stars!!! X3
Aaaaaannnnddd the rest of this side of the page I filled up with practice drawing skeletons...
Must be the Undertale kick I'm kinda on right now, but I decided to investigate other ways of drawing somewhat cartoony skeletons without, y'know, being too noticable. I decided to experiment with things like bone deformities, like underbite and overbite, as well as simple bone practice. Didn't want to go too far with deformities, as the research would be horrendous (have you every Google-image-searched any kind of human deformity??!?), but I think this is something skeleton design should delve into!
Also, technically, reanimated skeletons can count in 'critters,' too!
Art and designs: Mine.
