Lol nahhh I also watched it suuuuuper late! I'm really behind with a lot of tv shows, movies, music etc.Β Awww lol yeah can't get invested in the characters too much, or you will get heartbroken when something happens to them T_T

I'm still watching it! But yes, such is my burden, to love pretty characters and watch them die one by one....

damn, this is so beautiful!! she was one of my fave characters in the show too tbh (plus krysten ritter is so beautiful and talented?? enough said). I think you captured her sadness really well, and the flowers on the back are beautifully painted

thank you darling! She was my favorite character, period.... I got so sad after everything that happened, she didn't deserve anything that ever happened to her ;v;Β

np!! and i didn't want to say anything in case you were still watching the show, but yea... she seriously didn't deserve THAT. I cant believe I was able to hate walter white even more and yet....
btw i'm the biggest walter white anti there is, whenever someone talks about him being a sympathetic protagonist i go nooope

I AM still watching it, but I'm in season 4 so the tragedy has already happened :'))) AND they're rubbing it in with every opportunity, thank you writers...
No that's wrong, I am the biggest Walter White anti, he is a hairless, self-important douchebag who would gladly ruin everyone's lives just to get his ego stroked,,, off him alreadyΒ

Oh, ok, glad to know I didn't spoil anything accidently! The show is probably one of the most populars to have aired ever, but I somehow got into it without any knowledge or spoilers and that made it all the better. But it does have a pretty big problem with their portrayal of women... *cough* walter white actually sexually abusing his wife on the first season and nobody ever talking about it ever again *long ass cough*
so yeah, we are all drinking disrespect walter white juice tonight

Nightroxy In reply to candemarzat [2018-01-30 21:49:30 +0000 UTC]
You know, despite the fact that it was insanely popular when it used to air, I can't seem to find that many people who have watched it now! Glad to have found one at least :')
And honestly, these two have had a bunch of uncomfortable sex scenes from the beginning, but that one really took the cake. I don't like her either tbh, he's been such an enormous ass and she tried to divorce him over a freaking cell phone.

Same here!! My brother is also a huge fan of the show, but he's more along the lines of "poor walter white, he did all of that for his family" and.... yikes.
And I think they're both messed up, but not in the fun or interesting way, but just in the "they spend all their time screaming at each other and fucking up 24/7". I was pretty much waiting for the divorce since the first season lol

Oh jeez really? I feel like being called a Walter White sympathizer is the worst insult...
And they're not even gonna ever get it, isn't being married into a disfunctional marriage wonderful?

candemarzat In reply to Nightroxy [2018-02-01 08:32:44 +0000 UTC]
Well, it seems to be according to primetime tv lol.
And seriously, I don't understand the need to woobify all the antagonistic figures. Like... you can appreciate a villain without needing to excuse their actions, or even give them a backstory and motivation without excusing their actions.
though I still dislike walter even from that angle, the only character I liked throughout all the serie was jesse tbh. Plus jane, the true best character in the show rip
π: 0 β©: 1
Nightroxy In reply to candemarzat [2018-02-01 19:54:50 +0000 UTC]
Yeees, so much yes to that. I think to have a successful villain you need to: 1) give them believable motivation, 2) assume gray morality, 3) let the audience understand the villain. Treat them as any other character, they're not born in the pits of hell, with an inexplicable urge to do evil. To them that evil might not be the right thing to do, butΒ the necessary one. That doesnt mean force the audience to like them or feel bad about them, it doesnt mean make the audience hate them either. Just treat them as people.Β Let others decide if they are to be pitied or hated.Β
Jesse is my actual son, I love him with every fiber of my being,, and he is suffering itself... He wont ever catch a break will heΒ
π: 0 β©: 1
candemarzat In reply to Nightroxy [2018-02-01 20:12:49 +0000 UTC]
Exactly! The audience doesn't need coddling, they can make a judgement of character without being feed what they should feel in that aspect. I have pretty much the same problem with protagonists that are described as chivalrious/caring/etc through exposition, but end up acting like pricks or helpless individuals? idk, I'm just more of a fan of showing someone's personality through actions than having an internal monologue on a book or a scene where someone is talking about the hero so the audience knows what to think of them lol
and i won't spoil anything but jesse 100% deserves better, if only for all the shit walter put him through...

Nightroxy In reply to candemarzat [2018-02-02 12:15:07 +0000 UTC]
That's my biggest writing pet peeve, so many writers ignore the "Show, don't tell" advice and it's such a good one. If I'm reading a book and there's a character like Walter for example, and the writer tells me he's brave or caring while he goes and does all those selfish vengeful things, I lose interest. I dont want a biased narration. It feels like it god-ifies some characters and underdevelops the rest. It's like seeing one of those fandom OCs some people make to be perfect and literally the best at everything so that their favorite character will marry them or something... It's cringy and it ruins the experience.Β
i dont have any hopes left for Jesse honestly, I know someone in the writing hates him and drags him through the mud with every opportunity.. My sister told me today that Aaron Paul has said that while he was playing Jesse he would have dreams as Jesse and some of them featured guys chasing him. Worst one tho, he says, is the one where he wakes up next to a dead Jane and that just broke my heart...Β

candemarzat In reply to Nightroxy [2018-02-02 20:52:52 +0000 UTC]
Pretty much. One of the other best examples I find, be them in published books or fics (that are sometimes way better lol), is how a character can be described as intelligent or even a genius by their society's standards.... and then spends the whole story making dumbass decisions that even me, a Certified Dumbassβ’, can see are terrible. I see the problem with writing a person with 10 phds in a realistic way, especially when the writer (me for example) doesn't have knowledge of the fields, but there's better ways to set that up than just have the character said "pff having all these phds sure is hard!" in like the first paragraph .
And fandom ocs are an entire thing altogether, I have a few myself (for games with character creations) but everyone has their own tastes, I guess?
Also I didn't know that about Aaron Paul, that's sort of fucked up?? Like he probably thought "ok how is jesse gonna suffer now?" before reading every script. A good example of how some fanfic writer bash a perfectly good character in order to make an awful one like walter look "better", only that was in an award winning tv show lol

Nightroxy In reply to candemarzat [2018-02-05 17:42:03 +0000 UTC]
Yes exactly!! That's why I avoid writing any smart characters, because I have proven to not know my shit at all, ever, I'm just winging life. And I'm bad at doing research on top of that but I guess that's the only way you can ever hope to write any characters that don't have the same skillset as you... but such are the struggles of writing and creating characters I guess!Β
That is definitely fucked up but it goes to show how much playing a character can get to you. Honestly that man just makes me respect actors so much more, having the skill to fully enter a mindset that is different than your own and even disturbed in many ways and make it look believable?? Amazing, I thank all the gods for Aaron Paul....

candemarzat In reply to Nightroxy [2018-02-08 03:06:22 +0000 UTC]
Oh, research, that devilish fiend. Some things are interesting to get into, like mythology and folklore (which is a big part of my story), but other things can be the most tedious subjects. I just finished researching medieval boats to write more accurately about a travel and I think that's what caused my recent migraine lol
And I'll have to agree there, Aaron Paul has been amazing in everything I've seen him in. I'm currently binging his hulu series "The Path", which is about a cult and has Hugh Dancy as the "alleged leader" so it ticks all the boxes honestly
π: 0 β©: 1
Nightroxy In reply to candemarzat [2018-02-08 17:10:37 +0000 UTC]
ugh I feel you... and then there's subjects you can't even research because that kind of information isn't readily accessible! For example I have a story that evolves around the mob. The FBI agent monitoring my search history is going to think I'm trying really hard to come in contact with the mafia.....
THE PATH oh god I have seen gifest upon gifset on tumblr and I'm honestly so ready to begin watching it but alas, I'm still not finished with breaking bad and I can't afford to be buying a bunch of shows right now...Β

candemarzat In reply to Nightroxy [2018-02-14 04:25:49 +0000 UTC]
OMG, honestly that's a little too relatable! I've googled everything from how long certains poisons take to set in, to how people hide bodies, and everything in between. I don't know if the "researching for a story" excuse will hold up in court....
And I started watching the show because of gifsets (and also the actors, who am i kidding), but I'm not exactly "buying them" if that makes sense. I watched breaking bad on my brother's netflix account, but hulu doesn't even reach my country so I couldn't support the show even if I tried lol
π: 0 β©: 1
Nightroxy In reply to candemarzat [2018-02-15 18:33:14 +0000 UTC]
such are the struggles of writing a good story!!Β
And I don't usually buy them either tbh, Netflix came to Greece a few months ago and hulu is nowhere in sight, I just saw the breaking bad dvd collection on sale one day and I picked it up and that's how I started watching it.......

It was fated then, the world just needed a new walter white hater and jesse stan (?)
And honestly I first watched the alien movies because I found then on the discount part when I was younger, there's hidden treasures to be found there (plus there's no way I'm paying full price for a dvd where I live, they get a little too crazy with prices here lol)

oh definitely, some things are just meant to be....
Thank God for the internet that makes every movie and series easily accessible with one (illegal) click right? Β
Honestly it's not possible for poor students to enjoy things without going bankrupt....

Definitely! I remember when all the movies I watched were terrible cam recordings of the cinema and it makes me think of how good we have it now in that aspect (since the HD version is easily avaible). If we're broke, at least we still can watch the 8589 sequel to our favorite movies and shows without selling a kidney

I'd sell a kidney to watch 8589 sequels to Hannibal... Hell id sell two.

Ok that's a fair point :/
Honestly that show deserved more seasons than supernatural and greys anatomy combined. I want Will to chase Hannibal with his walking stick when they're 90 tbh

Very true! I believe "style" is a very fluid thing and it's affected by the people you look up to and admire. It makes sense that you'd draw what you like right?

If I was able to do something similar to someone I admire I might do it, but my style is like my hair: no matter what I try to do with it, it has its own ideas about how it wants to come out xD
