Spotlighting the design for the Dark Knight shown in, MJLA: Back to Basics. I wanted to showcase the development of his look while exploring the Future of Hitoshirenu, after being sent forward in time by the Grandmaster of the Ghost Arts aka The Spectre after the conclusion to the Knightfall Saga.

In the first image, Komori is wearing his standard outfit and the remnants of his cowl; the same one that his apprentices would battle over in his timeline while he was gone and presumed dead. He got into a confrontation not long after his arrival and utilized some of the cowl as a waist wrap to bandage the injuries to his abdomen that he received at the hands of a gang of Jokerz. His traverse to the future also resulted in him losing his utility belt, gauntlet, and weapons.

After crossing paths with that era’s new version of the Shadow of the Bat, Komori acquires some futuristic gear to help aid him in getting around the very different high tech landscape that the Hidden Regions have evolved into. As stated before, I used Capcom’s Strider: Hiryu as a foundation for this aspect of his design. The device on his left leg is there to promote healing and stimulate cell regrowth, while allowing him to utilize the limb after receiving another injury taking on a gang of Splicers.

This next outfit is when Komori is given a set of body armor and futuristic weapons to fight side by side with the current era’s Batman, Teruhi Miyagawa. He now has a Utility Gauntlet on his right arm, which includes: a grappling line, batshuriken and a host of other ninja tools and technological aids.

Next is when Komori is given a mys-tech shinobi forehead protector device that is able to tap into the residual energies of A-Komoriyasha, the Demon Bat that still are within Komori’s cells. It is the equivalent to as well as the prototype to the Onimen Mask that he will construct upon his return to his home era in the past.

The next image shows Komori utilizing the forehead protector to tap into the Demon Bat energies within him. Similar to Naruto taping into his Biju chakra as a Jinchurikki, Komori has enhanced strength, skills, and mystical abilities. He also starts to take on characteristics of the Demon Bat itself. His cloak/scarf starts to crackle with demonic energy.

The final image shows future Komori fully taping into the energies inside him. He resembles the form he took when he completely lost control during the Knightfall incident, complete with cloak/wings for flight and demon energy bats. He has a much higher level of control than previously, as a result of utilizing the device. But similar to how he arrived in the future, Komori loses all of his upgrades upon his arrival in his own timeline.
