Description The three main tiger color patterns. The normal orange, the white with black stripes, and the golden tabby tiger. Golden tabby's are -gorgeous-. So are ghost white's. <3 God I love tigers. Why I dont do more art of them is beyond me. I may try that.

One of many finished in hopes of selling at the annual festival that's held here once a year.

This original is for sale! Note me if interested (Only serious inquiries, please)

Tabby tigers are in fact very real. Tiglons and Ligers look quite different, but Tabby Tigers have been around for quite some time. Here are some links to golden tigers.

and here is this, as well for you.
[link]

There is also a special called "The Awesome Pawesome" that showed on Animal Planet, and I own the special on VHS, a tabby tiger was born to two very normal tigers, one white, one orange. Its just a recessive gene, much like the white tigers, their just not bred as often as the white ones, and this color is only seen in captivity.

[link] The tabby is the one on the bottom left. ^_^
And here is the actual special, part 1 on youtube!

I hope this information helped you. Animal Biology is a major of mine in college, and tigers are one of my favorite species of animal.

Cool! I read there are four subspecies of tigers. See the picture here: [link]

Orange Bengal tiger: orange with black stripes; most common of tiger subspecies
White Bengal tiger: white with black stripes; not very common
Golden tabby Bengal tiger: golden with faint gold stripes; extremely rare
Snow White Bengal tiger: white with faint gold stripes; rarest of tiger subspecies with less than 30 in the world

NightTracker In reply to BrotherlyFluff [2008-12-14 03:06:48 +0000 UTC]

I know, thats why there are three pictured here. The snow tigers' stripes were to light to really add, so I stuck with the three more popular color/stripe types.

you draw tigers nicely ^^ I also love the orange tabby color on them. I was actually first supposed to use it on my tiger painting, but then the coloring just looked too light, so I had to make something in between =S Well next time I gotta learn from you how to make a orange tabby

NightTracker In reply to mooni [2008-01-26 04:35:19 +0000 UTC]

I loved your recent tiger painting. I do agree that the tabby coloring would have been very soft on it, but perhaps you can paint a tabby tiger sometime soon! ^^
I need to color another orange tabby tiger, their beautiful, and I love them even more thant he orange and whites.

not up close to my face, no, but ive had lion cubs in my face! Such fluffy fur.

wolphie In reply to NightTracker [2007-05-14 01:07:33 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, yea, cubs are very fluffy.

Ive had both tigers and wolves standing up to me with their paws on my shoulders.. Very powerful experiences... The tiger was captive born and VERY socialized.. but still, not something ya just do any ol day. As for the wolves, Ive worked with both captive born and wild rescues, both of which Ive had extreme close interaction with, and loved every second of it!

NightTracker In reply to wolphie [2007-05-16 04:26:15 +0000 UTC]

and where did you do stuff like that? And why were you allowed inside witht hem? Thats the type of things I WANT to do with my life, is why im asking. Any information you can give me on getting in with wildlife in such a way would be greatyly appreciated. I envy you, dude. ^^

wolphie In reply to NightTracker [2007-05-16 05:35:21 +0000 UTC]

I worked with relatives in SW CO, at a wild rescue ranch, and was a primary caretaker for the wolves.. We had several animals there, but my work was mainly with the wolves. As far as the tiger, that was another rescue ranch in CA, with whom we had some acquaintances..

You should be able to get to Battle Ground, IN fairly easily.. WolfPark is up there [link] I've been up there before, in one of Monty Sloan's photography intensive weekends.. There you get to interact with the wolves, and photograph them. Monty will give you a little briefing and info about the wolves before entering. Also, they have several presentations and educational seminars about wolves, and what might be even more intriguing to you is their internship program.. You do a few months there and get to work fairly closely with the wolves and learn the operations of a captive wolf ranch and education facility. If ya wanna get in to this kind of work, I would highly recommend checking out the internship. This is a great first step into the wonderful world of working with wild animals

NightTracker In reply to wolphie [2007-05-16 18:05:26 +0000 UTC]

I thought about the internship at Wolf Park, eventually ide love to get up there, definately. But ive spoken to a few ppl and theyve spoken poorly of the internship. And this was several ppl, so im unsure anymore. We shall see once I get up there. I would love to be able to spend some time with the wolves, though, dream come true for me, there.

Thankyou so much for the tips and information! *hugs tight*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wolphie In reply to NightTracker [2007-05-16 20:18:15 +0000 UTC]

I wonder what the cause of them speaking poorly was? I know you basically have to pay to be an intern there, which kinda sucks, but I do understand the issues. The park needs every bit of funding and help it can get. Yes you will work your butt off up there, but you also get the opportunity to study the wolves, and do research projects on a wide variety of subjects. Everyone I know up there are great people and have always been friendly and helplful to me, but since I never interned up there, all I know is the fundamentals of the program, which upon my inspection appeared to be a great entry position into wild animal care. And two, this kind of intern and what responsibilities it entails is not for everyone. So I imagine you'd just have to get in there and see for yourself, and make your own opinion.

Anytime I can help, feel free to ask, or if ya just wanna talk I need to add you to my Y! list

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NightTracker In reply to wolphie [2007-05-26 17:48:48 +0000 UTC]

yeah, feel free to add me to YMessanger.
the name is Wolftrakken. ^^

As for the program, the few ppl I interviewed, asked questions said that the hours were long and grueling, and that you didnt get much tiem with hands on with the wolves as they leave you to believe, which is a bummer because thats what I want to do with my life, is be 'hands on' with the animals I want to work with. They said it was intertesting, but that there were a few ppl there who were kinda creepy beyond park hours (Which dosnt surprise me, theres someone like that at every workplace, no matter where it is).

The intern's said that the ppl could be rude, and very harsh sometimes, and this is from several ppl. This is all past open hours, when the park is closed. So im not quite sure. Ide like to still intern there if my university calls for an internship program, just to see for myself, but from the few ppl ive spoken to, it dosnt seem worth it at all. I mean, I know its not about 'laying' with the wolves, that its mainly about studying, and learning their behaviors and all that jazz, and I would LOVE that, truly I would, but I dunno, im just really torn on it now. XD. Not saying I wont do it given the chance, though.

We should really meet up sometime up there. I think it'd be cool. ^_^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

wolphie In reply to NightTracker [2007-05-26 20:15:50 +0000 UTC]

There I added ya

Yea, that sounds like a bum deal for sure, primarily people being rude and harsh. I would think if you stated that your purpose is to work hands on with the wolves maybe they could adapt the program or give you some insight on where else you might find something more suitable. Of course the hours are long and grueling, thats kinda to be expected. Not an easy or lax job at all.

Well, at least you have some account of what its like without first experiencing it. It may be wherever you go the starting ranks gets all the crap thrown at em. I wish I could give you a first hand account, but unfortunately I cant. I kinda lucked out, getting sucked into a position just from what I knew.

I'll help ya in any way I can, I'm sure with some more research we can find something that fits perfectly

I would definitely love to meet you and hang out sometime.. Perhaps later on this year.. Got a lot on the plate at the moment

Cheers

NightTracker In reply to wolphie [2007-05-29 04:20:44 +0000 UTC]

*nod* and thats what I said about the hours, it wont bother me, if im around wolves 24-7, hell, I dont care what ide have to do, ide be happy! XD
And yeah, if they could point me into more directions with more hands on handling,t hatw ould rock my socks BIG TIME man. ^.^

Haha, as for hanging out, later this year would be awesome. If and whenever you can get back to Battlground and visit WolfPark, give me a holler (though perferably amonth in advance) so I can request days off and head out that way and visit too! ^^

Tigers are so awesome, I especially like the white ones but I don't really see the point in breeding them if they can never be released back into the wild.

Anyway.

I especially love the way you coloured their faces, and their eyes - they all look so ... alive.

Hah, I dont really see a point either, but ppl will do it because they are -rare and beautiful-. Cant stop it.

Thankyou so much! Im proud of their coloring and eyes as well. Gave the white one blue, the normal orange yellow, and the tabby tiger green. I dont know if their eye color came through so well with the scan, though. o.o lol

Thankyou again!
