Description recently i have been trying to complete my vintage he-man & she-ra figure collection. apart from getting the official figures for my collection i also wanted to add a few of my favourite characters, so to do this i have been spending the past few weekends making them as customs.

Shadow Weaver is one figure i always wanted for my evil horde collection so i was really pleased when i found out she was being released in the MOTUC line. unfortunately when i got her she was too tall & just looked a little out of place next to my vintage horde figures so this is the main reason i wanted to make this figure.

To make her feel more like a vintage figure i decided to use a vintage Glimmer figure as her base.Β

I started off by removing glimmers hair & taped her legs tight together so as the shape of her skirt would look better when i sculpted it over Β her legs.

Her head, sleeves & skirt & horde logo were sculpted using a product called 'fixit sculpt'.

i then painted her using humbrol enamel paints. I decided to paint her this shade of pink because i wanted her to fit in with the horde & also the vintage POP figures. In the cartoon Shadow Weaver was a really deep pink (almost red) so i decided to just lighten her up & paint her the same shade of pink as the vintage Catra figure.

I then added a layer of glow in the dark paint to her eyes.

the jem stone on her chest was painted with red glass paints

i finished her off by making her cape from an old damaged 'veils of mystery' skirt which was from the vintage She-Ra fantastic fashions line.

Brilliant. I could swear it's an actual vintage Mattel toy from the PoP line.

You used a vintage Glimmer figure for this? If not for the torso, I'd never have guessed.

In an aside, since you're the only person I've seen working with the actual 80's She-ra figures, were her legs sticky? I have a pretty decent amount of the vintage ones from my own childhood, and the legs and arms on nearly every figure are sticky. It won't clean off, and I'm fairly sure it's from the plastic itself, since the stickiness ends at the torsos. I don't want to kitbash mine, but it would be nice to have them in decent shape to display.

Hi there,

Yes she was indeed made from a vintage Glimmer figure. i have to admit i have never come across any she-ra figures that are sticky. Saying that i know a lot of other older figures can have this problem. i heard it happens more with figures with soft plastic or rubber parts. they say that nothing can be done to fix these figures as the stickiness is due to the chemicals in the plastic breaking down. im sorry i could not have been more help.

*reads again* Ah, so you did. Must've missed it XD Not a bad reason for doing so. I could see them lighting up her color as a vintage figure

no worries. Yea i wanted her to have a slightly more (non cartoon accurate) look to make her fit in better with the other vintage figures

it does take a bit of time to make them. when you say 'close to the original' do you mean the cartoon version?

i could make a cartoon accurate version if you like. this one was created more to fit in with my vintage 1980's figures which are not entirely cartoon accurate.
