Description
The ever talented Volpin Props asked me to model his Ancient Nord helmet with my armor a while back! Here's a picture from the shoot!I DID NOT MAKE THE HELMET, Volpin did!
See his blog post with the rest of the photos HERE: [link]
See his build process of the helmet HERE: [link]
I made the rest of the armor, besides the axe. The axe was made by my friend Daniel Kim.
For this shoot I dirtied up the cloth parts of my armor a bit more, and I added way more dramatic rust effects to match Volpin's helmet. Before the rust was so subtle it almost wasn't there at all, and the main complaint I got about this costume was that it was "too clean" - and I agree! It looks much better now!

Great cosplay... have you considered a more adventurous use for it? Say like LARP? Not the shitty lightning bolt kind but deep well costumed larp...

SO IT WAS YOU! I knew that prop was very familiar, it just had to be his.

What materials did you use for the actual steel part of the Steel Armor?

It's all Wonderflex! And the details, like the rivets and stuff were done with Apoxie Sculpt. No steel at all.

Wow, nice! I'm going to have to invest in some wonderflex. I've used apoxie before, but never use wonderflex. Is it easy to work with?

It used to be! It's not so much any more. They changed the formula a few years back and the new Wonderflex is thinner and less versatile, and thus harder to work with. The thicker version was much easier, but I don't think they still sell it .. I mostly used it for my armor because I had two huge rolls of it laying around and already had experience with it. It has its pros and cons. You should get a sample and see if you like it!

Yeah I'll probably do that. That sucks that they changed the consistency of the formula for the Wonderflex.

That's an excellent shot. Really has the Skyrim feel to it it ought to have. Your friend did a great job on the helmet too, I wouldn't know where to start making something like that.

And it's always an incredible pleasure to see this cosplay !
The snow left Skyrim to be replaced by nature ..... but the Dovahkiin is always here ! Most beautiful then before in her armor, just fabulous ^^
The ax and the helmet are soooo realistic and detailed, the landscape.....IT'S Skyrim !
Congratulations for your work, you make a so hight level cosplay that I'm not sure somebody could make a best Dovahkiin then you !
