Description
"Every man has the right to be measured by his greatest moments."The heart shape in the bottom of the photo was actually pointed out to me after I submitted it. One of those lucky catches.
Enjoy

the reflection of sky in the water looks like a heart...

What is excessive in your eyes?

smellykapcie In reply to niimo [2005-04-07 06:21:57 +0000 UTC]
This. Definitely.
I don't like editing where you can tell it's been edited. In my opinion, editing is only for when you want to make something emulate the scene you were taking a photo of, whether it be because your camera is shitty or because you're still to learn the skills necessary to take the photo in such a way that there's no need for editing.
But don't feel bad. What you've done here is still cool, but in my opinion, it's no longer a photograph and more of a photomanip.

Nah I don't mind, if it were my objective to please everybody--then that would be a problem.
But since I am so self-centered I only want to please me... nothing is ever a problem!

: ) You're very welcome. Do you ever use a neutral density filter when you're photographing the sky? I heard that they can really make the sky look amazing (although nothing beats curves...)

niimo In reply to iliveinacamera [2005-04-05 07:03:04 +0000 UTC]
ohh you are talking filter-speak! The camera I currently shoot with is all auto point and shoot, no filters for this one.. Though I can't wait till I can use em!

wow, I'm suprised you get such nice pictures with a point and shoot! What kind is it? I don't really use filters either (although I should).. they're just too damn expensive

niimo In reply to iliveinacamera [2005-04-06 01:02:49 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I was hesitant to even use it (it is only borrowed) but I had done enough reading and learning about photography and various cameras, I was itching to start somehow! So I was surprised to find what potential it had. It's a olympus d-560z 3.2 mp. thanks again

Neither can I!! I find them on good days and bad, but most always just when I let up looking at the sky, it jumps out to grab my soul again! The I just apply some curve adjustment..

I agree with `londonxpress that the tones are deliciously warm. They kind of envelope you. Even though you lose detail in the rocks you barely notice it, your eye goes straight to that heart reflection. Great work.

the blackness of the rocks seemed to bother many, I appreciate your thoughts on that!

I love this pic bra, is there anyway you could lighten the rocks at the bottem?... maybe have a look at the original photos and do an inverted contrast masking to save the outline of the rocks..
anyhow, love it either way +fav for sure !

niimo In reply to studio7designs [2005-03-21 01:05:33 +0000 UTC]
Hmm I wish I could! there may be a way.. but I really don't know how, or didn't at the time, I don't think I tried inverted contrast masking though.. It probably would help, one problem though, the original is on a harddrive on a dead laptop.. Thanks a lot man for your comment, always helpful!
and fav of course!

hmmm there are ways to recover from that HDD on your laptop.. even if the HDD is dead, the disk can be put into another drive etc... you should try to recover it... kinda a pain but if you have more shots like this in there, you should try
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
niimo In reply to studio7designs [2005-03-22 02:20:51 +0000 UTC]
Yeah.. I may try, but there really wasn't that much on it anyway. Only a month or two of photos on there, which is not much, for me. But would you know if it is possible to use my harddrive even if the laptops are two different makers? That would be awesome, because what happened was I smoothly spilled water on my new laptop with apparently fried the motherboard or something, but the hdd is likely in tact. It's a 60GB while the one I have now is ... sad. lol Anyway, thanks man, I'm trying to Google this info right now too.
