Great tutorial mate.

I don't know if you're doing requests, especially if for free, but may you consider porting to Windows 10 one of the best themes for Windows XP, Luna Element Black?

here's what i'm talking aboutΒ

Rippo.

I hope that when you'll someday take requests you're going to consider this

Ye, of course

Also didn't know that you're still alive. It's a shame you aren't making themes anymore :/ (although it would be understandable since Win10 is a pain in the ass for custom msstyles).

Yep, I still am Yeah, I haven't looked into how theming in Windows 10 works but I do know it's harder than with XP. Plus the default theme on Windows 10 looks good enough for me

Ye, it's hard especially since Microsoft "fixed" the update policy by giving "feature" updates that doesn't bring anything interesting and most of the third-party apps do that, so if you would consider making themes on Win10 then you have to frequently update them for every "feature" update MS gives.

You can't skin the taskbar, so you have to do it with SiB++, which you have to pay for it unless if you're making a theme then the owner can give it for free, but at least it has the msstyle taskbar skinning unline Classic Shell. Both of them are good, but for skinning taskbar SiB++ is a must, oh and SiB++ can also skin jumplists too.

Just like in Win8/8.1 Ribbon is infesting explorer so you have to install OldNewExplorer.

One of the major differences between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 msstyles is that the caption buttons are all the same rectangles, not like the vista-style in Win8.1, dunno if it's possible to hack it somehow, but i have a feeling that it's hardcoded.

Yeah, that is way too much work. Specially to do that as a side thing while being at uni the reason why I made Windows XP skins was because I didn’t like the default skin. Windows 10 looks good, and if I’d have to install all those apps just for theming, I’d miss the functionalities that I actually use in Windows 10. Windows 10 doesn’t look that bad, specially now that Fluent design is being implemented.
