Description
stranger 24, Düsseldorf (Germany), 10th of March 2013lost in thought as I was, staring at my cell-phone and writing a text, almost I missed the glance he threw at me as I passed him; was it a smirk? it felt like one. and that intrigued me for there are some things that are rare to see nowadays, and a smirk that comes across without any superiority, I turned on my heels and hurried after him.
as I was taking his picture, a little from below since he was the first stranger to meet that was definitely taller than me, the sullen photographer inside of me arose and I suggested that maybe he could lower his head, as it is what I do with my models; but I realized by now that what I did was fake something. I am happy to have taken this photo before I'd suggested it. this is way more of what intrigued me at first, as for I haven't met a person with such a warm face in a long time. a face that makes you feel alright in a way. just within the moment.
as I explained the idea of this project to him without even taking a breath between the words, the adrenaline of asking someone for a picture under my skin again, the few words he spoke, or that I let him speak in my soliloquy, made me wish for more. it seemed as though he kind of understood what I meant, but still thought differently. you know when you meet a person that you perceive to be different from what you've met so far, even if that is absolutely beautiful and amazing? but the one in front of you seems to take in everything differently? I don't know. that's how I felt about him.

I love the idea of looking up at him. It tells a story that is only enhanced by the words that acompany it. This is a great collection and a magnificent idea. I often find myself taking pictures and wishing people would get out of the way. I may like to try actually photgraphing the people I meet some time. The picture itself is focused well and the blur of the city behind him gives off an almost abstract feel. I would enjoy seeing this picture, and the rest of the collection in color and cannot wait to see more.

We can meet interesting people along our path, and choosing to engage their space makes us who we are...and here, I'm happy that you did...)))
