Description
I guess the Mayans were wrong...Sorry for this dark piece of art on these lovely holidays, but I guess now is the time that I found myself able to finish it. Plus we have to keep the balance with all the positive and cheerful greetings on DA!
Stocks used:
Corn Field
Power Plant Chimneys
Abandoned Truck
Moon
Radioactive Label
Gas Mask
Bag
Smoke was painted with cloud brushes and the man behind the gas mask is me, because I couldn't find the pose that I wanted. (Thanks to my roommate for taking the shot)

Wow guys! Thank you so much for the Daily Deviation! It really means a lot to get this recognition from the Deviantart community! I had no idea that this piece will get any attention. I can only promise that my future works will be better.

Great art work, but ur idea that nuclear power plants are some how emitting radioactive waste or that the stuff coming out the top is anything but steam from water is nothing more than a "big oil" sold propaganda. No one counts the cost of human life when they die on oil drilling platforms or in tanker accidents or in coal mines. Why is that?
Great art work. But I think it would have been a sight better if you had used some actual ecological danger as ur background. Check out Mansanto. Thanks to these assholes we'll one day have insects immune to all forms of safe pesticides and crops that can no longer reproduce.

I agree. Nuclear power plants are necessary. I am aware of the case with Mansanto and the way our food is treated.
This peace of art is more about visual impact than strictly a message, but you know everything has a good and a bad side.
Thank you for the attention

What Brent says is true. I am a design drafter and I have worked on several of these hyperbolic cooling towers. There is a lot of very interesting science behind these designs to make them safe and efficient. That "stuff" is steam.. In fact is is the cleanest water you will ever find on earth... Just very hot. Furthermore, there are so many refuglations on nuclear power that it is unlikely that the power platitude itself is at fault for a meltdown. The fault can be found as a lack of funding allowed by the state and federal govenrments to the plant to make repairs as materials age.

That's right.
As Brent said, the real threats are not the ones that you see, but the ones that you don't.

This is very good and provokes some contemplation. Just curious, what is your opinion on alternative energy sources and nuclear energy? Because this piece can be interpreted in multiple ways actually.

Thank you!
I'm all about the alternative energy, but the truth is that nuclear energy is necessary evil. There are too many people and it is impossible to supply electricity to everyone with just wind, sun and water power solutions.

What do you think the trucks and machinery that mine and transport uranium burn as a fuel source? They burn fossil fuels. Nuclear power is not an alternative energy source, it depends on mainstream ones for its very existence.

This can be said about any power source and it's a red herring in my opinion. The trucks that transport wind power stations also use fossil fuels, and the factories that produce the parts partly use fossil fuels as well (the power grid). It will take some time but in time we will have transportation for these things that run on "green" alternatives. Ideally we'll decommission all fission and fusion plants in the future and rely entirely on completely safe alternatives, currently that's not an option due to their power and cost inefficiency.

True, it is necessary, but how much evil it is in comparison to the other available energy sources is arguable. Even the alternative, so-called "green" sources, are far not as "clean" and harmless as proclaimed. While nuclear power has the huge problem of its radioactive waste, just a couple nuclear plants can supply enough energy for millions of people and a lot of industry. Meanwhile the huge solar and wind parks, or dam lakes, etc., can disrupt the ecosystems on vast territories. They are too ineffective.
I'm not entirely against them, but their function can only be complementary to another source, imho.
Малко със закъснение видях, че си от България. Хубаво е да видя българско произведение на страниците с избраните творби. Поздравления за DD!
Иначе истинското решение е термоядрената енергия.
