The original photo of this canine was not symmetrical like this image. I "cut" the original image in half vertically and tilted and otherwise distorted it to face head-on. I duplicated the layer and flipped it horizontally to match. I enhanced the highlights around the mouth, nose and eyes. The eye hue and saturation were modified and increased. finally, I used smart sharpening to bring out the texture of the fur.You can tell that the image is symmetrical by looking closely at the teeth. (There is one tooth dead center of the upper jaw and that's just not natural.)

The original photo was turned very slightly. I manipulated it (skewed the whole image) to make the entire image face as directly forward as possible. I sliced the image "in half", flipped the duplicate side horizontally and matched them up. You can tell because there is only one centered tooth (very unnatural). I softened the fur with a blur (I'm a poet and don't know it), increased the sharpness and contrast, changed the hue and increased saturation of the eyes, and also heightened the specular highlights in the eyes and the mouth area. I also "burned" the mouth area to make it even darker than the original. Finally, I used Painter IX (soft blender in clone mode) to blend the image in specific areas.
If you look closely at the image, you can tell that it is fully symmetric. I have a 16"X20" print of it hanging in my office, and if I may say so myself, it looks very dramatic and menacing. It gets everyones attention right away even with my walls full of lots of other images.

Oh WOW. Wonderful shot, and the perspective is great! If and when I get the chance to draw, would I be allowed to use this picture as a reference? I'll defiantly mention as well as credit you!
