Depends what ones letting go of, regarding self government I suppose the limits are primarily conditioned with fear.
I can only imagine being griped in a self inflicted emotional and physical pain would justify a total unmoderated release.
For me your creature needs some love, I don't know if his mental restriction is self induced or a manipulated persecutionΒ but the physical act of letting go is clearly in his own hand.

I like the way the arm has turned into a solid arm, as opposed to the shadowy rest of the body, I like his hand - you do
realistic hands very well! The bright blue eyes seem to show determination to escape the confines in which he is trapped -
maybe backwards through the hole?
