[Part 3 - Luau ]

[Part 4 - Rose Petal ]

Part 5 - Winter Willow <==== You are here

[Part 6 - The Garden ]

[Part 7 - The Fall ]

This one took some serious work. About 30 completely new OC ponies in varying degrees of distress. Oh right...

WARNING - This comic is a bit severe. Don't read it if you want to spoil your good mood
Note that I don't intend to get this grim often, just that considering Nightmare Moon collapsed large sections of the castle and who knows what else, it's likely there were some serious injuries.

A few things to note: There's a pegasus in the rafters who looks pretty upset. Her name is Whirley and she's a cameo from this comic: [link]

After reading that heartbreaker, I always wanted to give that poor little pony a hug and now I have

Also, Rose is invisible for the entire duration of this comic. At the end, the pony observing believes that Willow is running away screaming. She also makes a snide comment which is a hint to the political landscape of the time (healing ponies don't think much of "emotional healing").

Lastly, I'm enormously pleased with myself. This turned out very artsy and awesome in parts. It was mostly an accident that I thought of some of the arrangements and effects, but I think they turned out really well!

Oh... lastly, lastly: This was actually supposed to continue beyond this point, but the comic would have been too long and it already took an extraordinary amount of effort to do this much so I'm going to stop here for a bit. The next comic will have Celestia again

IMPORTANT! The thing in the tubs is soiled bandages. That's why they're cleaning them over by the river. They're not organs or some of the other things people keep asking me

ALSO: The pony with the paper in her mouth is looking for a pony with that cutie mark. Before you ask if she ever found her, here's the answer: [link]

Ah horsefeathers Nimaru! Now you've gone and made me cry! I love stories that move the reader through complex emotions. I do hope you continue.

I love the detail you've put into Winter Willow. You have done a great job conveying her compassion and empathy. I must admit I'm quite taken by her.

Thank you! She's shaping up to be a personal favorite of mine which is kind of why I've adopted her as my spokes-pony

Damn it... As I look at this I see the pain caused by War and destruction that plagues our very world. People die... lives are lost... and terror harms so many.

It's not fair!!! Bad things happen to good people when they've done nothing wrong!! I just... I just... can't take seeing that.

But... you can put those feelings into pictures. That's a wonderful talent and I can truly feel the emotion in this comic

Also is that Derpy Hooves ancestor in the "I shared in their helplessness" panel?

It wasn't intended to be, but a lot of people think so. The color combination, believe it or not, was actually an accident. I was trying to come up with different color combinations (making that many OC's is HARD).

I Really Love Willow's mane and tail it really gives of a feeling of nature and leaves if that's what you were going for, but if not it still looks awesome

It was. Willow and Rose are both supposed to look plant-like in their hair. For Willow, a willow tree. For Rose, rose petals.

I'm planning to explain each in their own character sheet similar to the "reports" series I did on the main six. Maybe that will help.

She experiences everyone's emotions with them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nimaru In reply to OverlordK [2012-03-19 23:23:27 +0000 UTC]

To a degree. The strength and clarity of the emotions depends on many factors. But she is the element of Empathy (or she's about to be anyway).

OverlordK In reply to Nimaru [2012-03-20 18:25:44 +0000 UTC]

True, but why can she feel Rose's 'heart' better than she can other ponies?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nimaru In reply to OverlordK [2012-03-20 18:40:57 +0000 UTC]

Yes. By a fairly large factor.

Nimaru In reply to OverlordK [2012-03-20 20:44:34 +0000 UTC]

Nah, not really. There's no particular story or reason for it, just that from the beginning there's been a special connection between the two of them. I don't have any plans to explain it; just that it IS.

OverlordK In reply to Nimaru [2012-03-22 20:07:01 +0000 UTC]

You're throwing a lot of what I know about your story telling style out the window with that comment.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nimaru In reply to OverlordK [2012-03-22 20:38:16 +0000 UTC]

You every heard of love at first sight? Or had an instant connection with someone (clicked with them). It's like that. There's no major plot for it or specific event that created it. That's all I meant.

I do however have a strong sense in mind of how and why these two relate to each other as they do. This will be apparent in current and future comics (and Tumblr if I do indeed decide to make one).

I'm sorry if I let you down though

OverlordK In reply to Nimaru [2012-03-23 15:48:42 +0000 UTC]

NO letting down, just a bit of confusion. Thanks for the explanation by the way, a few other people that I watch would have left it at wait and see.

Objection! panel 8 were roses enters the hall there's a shadow over her body, still that shadow is not on the ground, indicating the doorframe (dont know if i explain myself :/), also in circle 8 "despair", were the artist is crying......is it me...or i can see...the...well...cursor? that cross above her body, it's in the bed :/....there's no cross on any other bed....so...what's that? :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Nimaru In reply to Brunitop [2012-03-19 20:26:34 +0000 UTC]

It's hard to explain, but she's not actually invisible, just impercievable. The only way I could represent it was having her partially see-through.

As for the despair shot.. UGH! I thought I got rid of those. I had to do something a little different than normal and it resulted in a few stray cursors. I'll fix it when I get home

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Brunitop In reply to Nimaru [2012-03-20 01:48:17 +0000 UTC]

There's still bugging me something, you say she isnt invisible that she's imperceivable, if i search the dictionary, the definition is (copy-pasted): " Impossible or difficult to perceive by the mind or senses". But Willow clearly heard hear and smelled her....There's a clear contradiction in he witness testimon...wait wut, ups wrong game ^^, anyways, how's that possible? :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nimaru In reply to Brunitop [2012-03-20 02:13:15 +0000 UTC]

Synethsisia. She can sense hearts and those hearts have a "flavor". A combination of sights smells, sounds, feelings, etc. She can FEEL Rose and therefore knows where she is and may even be able to see her in a non-traditional fashion.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Brunitop In reply to Nimaru [2012-03-20 03:20:26 +0000 UTC]

Mhhh...synesthesia and imperceivable.... those 2 adjectives contradicts each other perfectly , it's like the sword adn shield contradiction( the sword adn shield contradictions it's an old story, about a sword that could destroy any shield, and a shield that could block any type of attack, perfectly contradicting each other), in this case, willow uses her sword (synesthesia) to find rose hidden under her shield (imperceivable). Perfect clash , anywyas this thing went wa yotu of topic :3

No problem, always glad to help ^^, still why all the medicals ponies has the staff of hermes as cutie mark? cutie marks dont determine job, determine what they are good at, something unique, here the dif. is the color XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nimaru In reply to Brunitop [2012-03-21 02:34:28 +0000 UTC]

I did it because I noticed that most of the hospital ponies in the daring do episode had the swiss cross with hearts. So I followed suit, but used the older medical symbol considering the time range.
