Description
Bunbranches are now an OPEN species by Lighterium ! You can make as many as you want, but do not create adopts for your own profit, if you want to know more about them, look at SeabunsReefedit: First big update! The other sheets will be updated accordingly with time.
Here is the old sheet
With the popularization of exotic pets and a rather liking for a particular sea slug that resembled a bunny, Bunbranches, are a human-made species with mixed characteristics of sea slugs and domestic rabbits, but their genetic makeup and ability to adapt to so many environments has made them to become more than that.
These small creatures are able to survive various types of environments, and due their ability to reproduce fast, they can be found in various places in the wild as well, even outside the water. Don't underestimate their small size and adorableness, those creatures are quite smart and dangerous if not treated with care.
Bunbranches come in a variety of different colors, shapes and patterns that do make each individual unique! They could be literally anything and domestic buns are often themed after something as their coloration and patterns can be manipulated in their kit days.
Anatomy
External
Bunbranches have no fluff in their bodies, the only areas where they can grow some sort of pseudo-fur is on their head tufts, neck and limbs, otherwise they are completely naked. Their skin is very soft to the touch, almost like velvet and they are very good for petting, not really minding being touched by a friendly person. It has been found out they do release a certain chemical-magical compound that helps in relaxation for the companion of the bunbranch, making them popular stress relieving pets.
They can also have pustules, mantles and other things that will cover their bodies. Some special subspecies with unique rare traits have also been appearing with certain environment conditions, and are often desired by collectors.
Rhinophores
What's often mistaken as ears on a bunbranch are actually smelling organs that helps them move around, scavenge for food in dark environments and even underwater! The rhinopores are very sensitive organs and along with its gills, they can retract inside the bun's body if they feel threatened or in need to protect them. In rare cases, a bunbranch may be born with actual bunny ears and is considered a rarity of some sort.
Face
Bunbranches have small, round eyes, that can see pretty far away, but not as detailed as other species. Because of that they need their rhinophores to assist locomotion.
They don't have any noses as their other organs do cover breathing and smelling abilities. With luck, one may be born with a nose, but it's an oddity to happen.
Their cheeks sometimes may have tentacles, that assist the bun into holding their meal and may be used for courtship, where they'll rub their cheeks against each other.
Limbs
Gills and cerata
What's often mistaken as a bunbranch's tail, is actually either their gills or Cerata that allow or help them to breathe. Poking them without an allowance of the bun itself might end on something ugly to see. Buns often groom their gills to keep them moist for functioning outside water. It seems that underwater they use their skin to breathe, pretty much like frogs.
The cerata, while it helps them a bit with breathing, is mostly a defense mechanism that may release dangerous chemicals to someone's body.
Their actual tails are much longer than their gills and help them with balance. Buns do tend to have those covered by a mantle at times and the tips may be shaped.
Internal
Bunbranches possess no bones at all, giving them an enormous flexibility and the ability to stretch quite a bit from the usual without feeling pain, making them squishable friends. But the lack of bones by no means say they do not possess internal organs. Their internal structure is very much simplified, but that does its basic necessities. They do produce toxins for their self defense and coloration the bun will have for their life that can be manipulated.
Their agility is exceptional, however it has a cost: They are low energy animals and only run when its necessary as they do take a huge amount of energy that their small bodies don't have. They have to eat and sleep often as a result of it. When a bunbranch is tired, they'll be very sluggish and slide along the floor without using their arms.
Reproduction.
Bunbranches can lay about 10-100 eggs at a time! They can reproduce very fast if not controlled, and so to control their reproduction, the bunbranch genetic makeup is altered so that they can only mate for reproduction with buns with the same color pattern as them, and as every bun is special itself, they cannot reproduce so easily. Specialized places do realize breedings by making the bun purely white with a special technique so their breeding can be made. Their eggs do come in a ribbon, and are aligned in a cluster so they look like a string of pearl of some sort.
Any of the buns can lay eggs, regardless of their gender identity. Bunbranch babies are pure white with a small shell on their backs for protection as their bodies are soft and they're no bigger than a Penny. Hatchlings are kept inside clear pools with no other species to grow peacefully and eat non toxic food so they can be raised to be someone's loving pet. And as they grow to hand size they start naturally gaining color and characteristics that can be altered at that stage until it's a solid new bun and the cycle continues!

another question: can buns have little tufts of hair on their heads? like that is a common thing that wouldn't cost an uncommon slot, right?
