Description [edit] Wow... really? This is my most favorited AND commented deviation? Within the first WEEK of being on DA? Well I guess HTTYD is quite the phenomenon right now. (For good reason.) And thanks to the groups for requesting to add my drawing![/edit]

I know, I know... *shot*

It's not my fault! I just HAD to draw this instead of inking the next comic pages! I saw How to Train Your Dragon, and how can anyone NOT draw Toothless and Hiccup after seeing it?! AHH! Everything about the movie was wonderful. The simple plot was incredibly character-driven, and the characters themselves were all so perfect in their portrayals. It was funny, poignant, and oh, just...and the animation!

Drawn for my friend Chel with copic/prismacolor markers, faber-pitt pens, and a gel pen. Epic fail on Hiccup's leg.

*spoilerspoilerspoilerspoilerspoiler*
This is inspired by our favorite scene where Hiccup gets out of bed and discovers he didn't quite come out in one piece. It was just so adorable and touching when Toothless helps him hobble away. The little Night Fury is so reliant on empathetic Hiccup to fly (and survive), and now Hiccup relies on him just as much. SUCH a good story. A "children's" film that has the audacity to amputate the limb of their protagonist (what respect for the characters to treat them as REAL people who CAN and DO get hurt when they do crazy things!) and manages to capture the utter feeling of conflict and violence within the dragon/viking world WITHOUT shedding a drop of blood on screen automatically wins my full respect and my heart.

I love this movie so muuuuch D,8 It's one of my favorites, hands down. And it's art like this that only makes me love it more. Agh, your traditional skills are so outrageous.

I love Hiccup's gentle expression and Toothless just looks adorable as always.~

Oh yes yes yes yes a favorite of mine absolutely too! I actually spent some time thinking and analyzing myself and the movie to figure out why on earth I loved it as much as I did (I have an unreasonable affection for the movie now). I saw it for the fifth time today and still cried. There are a number of very good reasons why this movie is so incredibly astounding. (Golly, just read my responses to these comments to see some of the reasons...eh...I've been repeating myself a lot and I'm tired now. )

Thank you!

Ahh! I loved that part
One of those moments when your heart drops for a split second... I agree with you, hence why I drew them the day I saw the movie Anyway You did an amazing job!

Thank you! That moment was even more heart-rending than the few moments when we wonder in horror whether or not Hiccup is dead. A part of us knows he's still alive. But when he realizes the repercussions of his dragon-fighting bravery, that's something permanent. Something he can't pull out of. It just makes you sick with empathetic grief for a moment, and then Toothless is right there with him. And your heart just warms up again. :3

Not you too?! I so want to watch it after Reavien told me about it (and I watched the trailer three times in a row while drooling over it) but woe, it comes out in MAY here. D:<

Rant done, I absolutely love how you drew them, especially the dragon hide. That must have been quite a job to do! It looks like the night sky speckled with stars.

Um um um um um YOU MUST SEE IT! I've seen it five times and am currently rocking out to the epic soundtrack... it makes me want to cry...

If you want a full analysis of why this movie is so great, I can supply it. Bwahaha! As pathetic as this may seem, I spent the entire weekend formulating a hypothesis explaining my sudden fascination and love for this movie. It's certainly my favorite now, with a long and valid explanation to back up this choice. It has incredible storytelling and writing, and the score is brilliant (a must-have for me). It's everything you want in an adult movie WITHOUT the negatives (gory violence, foul language, sexual themes) and everything you want in a kid's movie WITHOUT the negatives (characters--including protagonist, antagonist, supporting roles-- and storylines that don't take themselves seriously). It's... just... incredible. It stays with you long after you've left the theater.

I'll be the first in line to see it. And drag my parents and brother along with me. If you say it's that good, it must really be awesome!

Ah. Yes, the negatives of an adult movie...tis why I stay on the side of fantasy and animation, mostly.
