Description
What if Mass Effect was released a few decades earlier?Keeping this image roughly time period appropriate was quite a challenge. I ended up using a resolution between 3rd (8-bit) and 4th (16-bit) generation consoles. 12-bit? The color palette I used was based on the original NES with around 60 colors to work with, though I didn't limit my sprites to 3 colors and one transparent like the NES was.
The limitations I ended up using are very much like a Sega Genesis, which could handle 448x320 with 64 colors on screen.

Not to sound like an echo of the other comments, but this is quite possibly the best thing ever. The distant background with the reaper silhouette... I can just picture it remaining mostly still as the foreground moves. That lovely repeating ground pattern... the DETAILS! You did a great job reducing the complexity of the characters while still making them very recognizable, as well. I freakin' love this!
