I’m a big overthinker, so there’re some nights especially, where I’m sitting there in my thoughts, even after a long and tiring day.

Despite the lack of time to be personally creative in recent years (from the intense workload of post secondary, work, etc), I realized how much art holds me together as a constant in my life. My thoughts, however, would sometimes sour things as I drift to comparing now to the past; questioning my process, whether my skills have developed “enough”, among many others. Some days this weighs even heavier, and it isn’t just from art.

It’s hard to see this medium sometimes (or often) turn into another source of self scrutiny and pressure. I want to relax more with my art and rediscover it, truly, as a place to imagine and heal— to have, as life continues to throw its challenges and surprises my way. These recent years, have tested me so much, going into adult life and balancing everything rather than just having all the time at my disposal to stay in and draw all day. And that’s what I’m forever working on, as imperfect as things are: to continue on. To keep eagerly bringing these ideas to life, alongside everything else 🌸
