~Kakuzu from manga and tv series Naruto~I love how this one turned out, I've watched some tutorials on how
to draw male torso so I've wanted to try out my new knowledge ^^
I'm not so happy about his face though :S Looks weird to me...
And I hope that these black things in front of him read as wires/strands/stuff that he uses and not
something random that just got in the way

I can't even pin down what it is about this piece, but I like it. Maybe it's the look in his eye, his arms semi-detached and most likely wrapping a few threads around some poor sap. Could be the angle of the lighting, or the beasties that are usually attached to his back turned into walking nightmares. All round - good job!

The face was one of the first things I noticed, and I actually really like it because the colors make his gaze really pop. THe expression is also drawing- the slight uplifting effect on the right side is reminiscent of that inscrutable Mona Lisa smile. The 'threads' in the foreground definitely look like what they are supposed to be; it actually looks like he is whipping them out at you (uh-oh!). His heart creatures look more gruesome than they are usually portrayed, being styled as more eerie while here they seem more monstrous. On the whole, I really like it.
Perhaps the only thing that could explain the 'strange' effect of the face- the left side has shading that comes over just a bit too far toward his nose, making the round 3-D face effect come off as too sharply curved? And then the dark spot in his pupil too on that side. IDK
