Description
A couple of stray dogs leaning on each other to fight the cold. For the heads I used reference pictures: of my dog (left one) and the right one is another stray dog who waits in Athens for adoption. I chose them because I saw lots of stray dogs who look like that and I thought they represent them well.Done with acrylics and gouache, 12 x 16 ''. This is one of my first serious tries at gouache/acrylic and I'm pretty surprised I could handle it so well that the outcome looks like I imagined it.
This piece will be sold at MMC11 (Mephit Mini Con, Germany) or at EF14 if it doesn't sell there. I've really taken it into my heart and worked more than 12 hours on it. I probably would hang it up on my own walls. X)
EDIT: Thanks SO much for the DD! *_* *is overwhelmed*

Your painting is very beautiful, but it makes me feel sad about them and their street companions, the real ones

One of the best images I've ever seen! It is indeed, for you have been able to put so much feeling into the picture. You've also done a awesome job with the texture and the fur in them.
Yet, what I liked more about them is their expression and eyes, it's something I have to see every day. Those pleading eyes that can see beyond our outer shell; those poor beings that have suffer much, much by our fault...
*sigh*
In conclusion, awesome picture! I wish I could buy it, I would have it there, present, all the time in my mind.

You notice strays?
So have you ever seen a pack of Chihuahuas? I heard they preffer their own race. So I imagine that trait would lead to a pack of Chihuahuas somewhere. Which would be funny.

Adorable, yet so sad! I love how you've drawn their fur, especially on their chests, it all looks really effective. Great colours as well.

Awwww.... This reminds me of my Banjo (my doggy) he looks exactly like the one in the back. He was sorta a stray, as he was given to a boy I know but when the boy found out the puppy was to be his b-day present he didn't want him anymore cause he wanted an Xbox more and he could not have both so I took him and he is the one of the bestest dogs I have ever had. I think that strays and mutt dogs make the best pets and that from my personal experience since I have only ever had one pure breed, she was a great dog too, but all the mutts we have had have been strays and the are the most loyal and loving dogs. *huggles her big baby Joe close*
I wish I could buy this but I'm in the USA and can't get to either of those cons. T_T

I love the way they look so vulnerable and unwanted. This really makes me feel for all the stray dogs in the world, it's a very moving pic.

Aww... adorable... and the one on the left really looks like my late dog Nikki. Their poses are awesome as well as how the fur came out. Awesome job.

Every stray just wants to be loved, and I've felt like a stray for years... so this really kind of hits home. Both of the figures are so nicely rendered, you're fur textures are exquisite.

I love it but have a question: If they're fighting the cold, why does one look like it's panting?

Good question. I don't know. X) Maybe they ran away from something and now are hiding... I must admit I didn't give a thought to that.
