Description
A couple of stray dogs leaning on each other to fight the cold. For the heads I used reference pictures: of my dog (left one) and the right one is another stray dog who waits in Athens for adoption. I chose them because I saw lots of stray dogs who look like that and I thought they represent them well.Done with acrylics and gouache, 12 x 16 ''. This is one of my first serious tries at gouache/acrylic and I'm pretty surprised I could handle it so well that the outcome looks like I imagined it.
This piece will be sold at MMC11 (Mephit Mini Con, Germany) or at EF14 if it doesn't sell there. I've really taken it into my heart and worked more than 12 hours on it. I probably would hang it up on my own walls. X)

Awww, I just want to scoop them up, take them home, and love on them till the end of their natural lives. And make sure they have plenty of food and conforts,too.

I agree completely with DragonflyHeart. I have often thought that if I could win the lottery, I would open a no-kill home for strays & unwanted dogs. Although I don't understand how people can allow dogs to be born that are unwanted or simply left to themselves (strays).
This artwork would be a perfect banner for saving "unwanted" animals. They (the artwork) look like they just need lots of love.

Wow this is a really awesome piece! The colors, what you did with the fur, and the shape of the heads are amazing! My only suggestion are the feet because something about where the foot is in relation to the inverted knee seems funny. I almost want to say that the inverted knee shouldn't be touching the ground but I can't quite put my finger on it. I am not good at anatomy at all so I'm probably just being dumb but either way this is an awesome piece and I bet it will sell!

What caught my eye was that, they kinda look almost human, I really like the effect.

The dog on the right looks like my brother's dog, Tazz. He was a shelter dog too and he's the sweetest natured dog I've ever met. But he's also dumb as a bag of hammers. Twice, Tazz has tried to "introduce himself" to porcupines - and once to a skunk - that was bad. My brother always says, "If you want a great dog, get a mutt."

I'm very impressed by the way these two look so anthropomorphic, yet so much like quadruped dogs at the same time. I just keep staring at it trying to dissect how it is you merged the anatomy so well to give that feel. Excellent job!
